Would you listen to The Next Always again? Why?

I don't listen or read books twice. But, I will definitively will get another book from Nora Roberts. Believe it or not this was my first NR book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I could not stop listening to the story.

    Any additional comments?

I listened to all three books and enjoyed every single one. The stories are light and real, with a little supernatural sprinkle in it just for fun.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

If you could sum up Outlander in three words, what would they be?

    Fascinating, romantic and funny.

What other book might you compare Outlander to and why?

    I can't think of one

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

Her voice definition for each character and her language accents were formidable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh and blush. A very well written book and even better narrated. I don't think I could have enjoyed this book if I had read it rather than listened to it. D. Porter added the right ambiance with her Scottish accent and various other language accents. It would have been hard for me to get the right tone for the story and characters.

    Any additional comments?

I was hesitant to read this book because I am not a big fan of stories based on previous centuries. But I picked the book up based on the high reviews. OMG was I pleasantly surprised. I got captivated by the characters (particularly Jamie). The story had a little bit of everything; suspense, romance, action and drama. I can't wait to get the next book on the series.

Would you try another book from Jeaniene Frost and/or Tavia Gilbert?

Yes I would give them both another try. But I will not be continuing the series.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was a decent story. It kept me fairly interested but I was not "grabbed" by it. It was a bit silly at times, but then again, all sci-fiction stories are.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The one thing I disliked more about listening to the book was the English accent on Bones. Nothing against T. Gilbert but I just found it annoying. I really think that the annoying accent kept me from enjoying the story.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Probably

Would you consider the audio edition of Second Grave on the Left to be better than the print version?

I did not get the print version so I can't compare. However, I am very pleased with the audio version. The narrator does an excellent job with the characters and brings to life the witty personality of Charlie, the main character.

What other book might you compare Second Grave on the Left to and why?

Unfortunately, I can't think of any comparisons. I would be listening to those books If I knew.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

King is perfect for the job. She does a good job differentiating each of the characters and bringing out each of their different personalities. She does an excellent job with the main character.

I am really enjoying this series. The stories are fast, entertaining, funny and sexy.

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

So far, he's found a link between the killer and Faith - and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it. Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she's playing games. No way would she allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she? Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This story just did not keep me captive. The romance/erotic moments were a little to cold and unpersonal.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I think I am going to deviate from romance novels for a while. Maybe I am just burned out.

Which character – as performed by Caroline Wintour – was your favorite?

Mrs. Wintour did a great job differentiating the different voices of the characters and showing their individual personalities. I give her 5 stars for her performance. It is the story I did not enjoy that much.

Did Sweet Surrender inspire you to do anything?

Yes. It inspired me to try a different type of novel for a while. I am going to listen to a light mystery next. Maybe I just need a break from romance/erotic novels.
