It's very long I would have preferred abridged version
uninteresting, boring, text bookish voice
inspired me to be very cautious about very long audiobooks.
overall I was glad I did not have to read the book cause it would have taken me a year to do so.the second half was best and I would have loved the abridged version
I loved the thorough history and that I read it just as the movie came out. I was able to understand how the script writer of the movie interpreted and edited the content of the book it was awesome.
all of it was fascinating but the trial sessions stand out
no extreme reaction, but at times a little angry at the injustice of it all but in the end proud of the triumph.
yes, but I must say that I spend a great deal of time traveling by car so to me the audiobook will always be better. I am a slow reader and books like this can take me weeks to read instead of a few days to a week. audiobooks are very convenient and this book in particular as read by the narrator was fantastic, I believe she nailed all of the tones and inflections that were needed precisely
I am new to the field of psychotherapy and as a therapist I am always seeking to better understand things from my clients perspective. most of my trainng is from the psychologist/researcher experience it was valuable insight to me to read about BPD from a successful client perspective.
Rachel of course!
it did make me laugh and cry as well as at times I found myself angry at Rachel and her "acting out" and mortified when it seemed at times she would never have a change. However, in the end, I was overjoyed at the outcome.
would love to have Dr. Padget write his perspective on BPD and how he views the treatment process.
the subject is great, the information is great the audiobook overall was fine....but
I would have a version for those who are actively driving or working out...meaning remove the pauses!! One is not neditating usually while listening to an audiobook. I think the 5 and 10 minute log meditative pauses have no place in an audiobook. its consuming to have to constantly fast forward through and not to mention the extra space the file takes up with the pauses.
not entirely..see above
perhaps you can provide another version of audiobooks when there are long or many pauses involved. I would have appreciated the non meditative pause version
I listened to crucial confrontation first and thoroughly loved the book so I then attempted to listen to this book crucial conversations. I was thoroughly disappointed. first, the voice of conversations reminded me of some high strung arrogant young white guy. I cant relate. Secondly, much of the book i had already heard in crucial confrontations but with a narrator i enjoyed. it was a wasted credit for me.
different narrator and maybe warned to read the books in order. after reading the second one first, this was a ditto book and a waste of credit
for some reason i disliked the narrator. he came across to me as arrogant, young, white guy
disappointment, i could not get past the first chapter
would like a refund
I stumbled onto this story while researching something else, and I can't describe the amazement that her story is not widely known in the mainstream society. I shake my head and wonder why not even during Black History Month there is never any real effort to spotlight her story and contributions. The narrating was great and the writing was awesome. The only draw back is it seems to me Rebecca skloot profited monetarily while handing crumbs to Henrietta's family I would like more follow up of them today
A little angry...thought provoking
I have read Dr. Carsons first book and thought I would like this one. I expected to read about what he has observed and learned through his journey of being a Neuro surgeon and his take on life in America in general. but what I heard is what I have been hearing for the the past few years (almost verbatim) of the Republican platform. I wanted to connect with his words, not the GOP words. As an African-American woman who started in the
the seemingly hidden agenda leaning towards a republican party platform
the reading was fine
what mad it most enjoyable was the information given in the audio format.
none for this kind of
had no accent.
my reaction was that I had to endure the accent.
would have prefered an unabridged version
