Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

I started getting interested in time travel books after I read "The Rose Garden" which I liked very much. I was going to read the sequel to "The Outlander" until I read a reader's review that says Claire sews up a man's testicles.....No, thanks...I'll pass on anymore of these books in the series. While I found "The Outlander" held my attention, I really didn't like reading about all the sex scenes or the torture. I was surprised that more reviewers didnt mention that part of the book. So...if you like reading about other's sex lives in detail, sexual torture...then this is the book for you. I guess in my old age Ive become somewhat conservative ( still not a prude though). I would have enjoyed it so much more if she had toned down that part....I dont hink it was necessary...for me, anyway...Thats it for me....no more in this series...

I really enjoyed listening to this story. The reader was ok but sometimes it seems like she forgot to speak in the character she was suppose to be. That made for a little confusion. The story was a bit predictable and hokey....but it was worth my monthly credit!

So far story is interesting....The narrator of Alice is so annoying to me that I cant stand when it is her time to read. The speed of her voice is soooo slow and it isnt because of the speed I have my device....otherwise other readers are fine. I dont know if she narrates that slow because its the character of Alice or if its her. But wont choose another book if she is narrator...like fingernails on blackboard for me....

Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

This is my third Herman Wouk book, the first and second being THE WINDS OF WAR and WAR AND REMEMBRANCE. The narrator in all three is wonderful...Im so glad that I used my credits for these books. You will not be disappointed....the only disappointment that I do have, is that the books ended....My husband actually got a kick out of my laughing while listening to THE CAINE MUTINY. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful....and the narrator, too...

My rule is to listen only when I do my walk so I have something to motivate me. But with this story I said the heck with that! The readers are great. I love most of Jojo Moyes books and this one is right up there on my list of favorites.

Set in the vibrant 14th century of Chaucer and the Black Death, the classic romance Katherine features knights fighting in battle, serfs struggling in poverty, and the magnificent Plantagenets - Edward III, the Black Prince, and Richard II - who ruled despotically over a court rotten with intrigue. Within this era of danger and romance, John of Gaunt, the king's son, falls passionately in love with the already married Katherine.
