Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

What made the experience of listening to Redshirts the most enjoyable?

Will Wheaton, great narration. Not Scalzi's best work, but pretty good, I enjoyed it, though not as much as "Old Man's War." Did not like the "he said" after every line of dialogue, though. That's amaturish, for a writer, and Scalzi is a pretty good writer. But that's one of the first things they teach you in fiction writing, just let the dialogue flow, and throw in the he said, they said, very sparingly. That said, really liked the story, was different, and I look forward to more from this interesting, and plucky author!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Redshirts?

When they go back to earth, Just like in the old Star Trek episodes.

Have you listened to any of Wil Wheaton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and how, he is a very good reader, and excellent actor.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they were able to save one of the charactors from the past.I am being deliberatly vague here.

    Any additional comments?

    Good book worth the listen!

Is Greed good? The future of Earth and all of mankind may hang on that one question. And George Marquis Lorrilard—a space age ace-pilot, adventurer and fortune-hunter to rival Hans Solo of Star Wars—is just the man to answer it. The world is divided between Asia and the United Continents—two great super powers locked in eternal warfare. But the balance of power is about to shift in Asia’s favor. They have developed a top-secret weapon—the cohesion projector–that could lead to annihilation on an unprecedented scale.

Would you listen to Greed again? Why?

Sure, I already have, 3 times.

What did you like best about this story?

Interesting stories from the pulp era, some racism towards Asians, blacks, and in the last story towards Irish men in the movie business, who everyone knows is populated by people of the Jewish persuasion.

The horse winning and the movie business, from the Auto-magic horse.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Stories from the far edges of the universe to the your own backyard.

That is Fanner Marston’s mantra—his reason for being—and while he knows a little about the first and a lot about the second, he may well be on the verge of learning everything there is to know about the third. Power. He may, in fact, be about to uncover the key to gaining absolute control over the entire universe. The only problem is, Fanner is certifiably insane—a crazed Peter Lorre on a power trip.

If Lars Marlin had three wishes, two have already been granted: he has escaped from Devil’s Island . . . and he has come face to face with the man who put him there - Paco Corvino. But the third wish - putting a bullet in Corvino - will have to wait. They’re off to sea, and not since Fletcher Christian and Captain Bligh set sail on the Bounty have two more heated enemies been in the same boat.

Matt Dodson arrives at Space Academy little prepared for the rigorous program he is about to enter. But that’s the point of the academy: to take young men and steep them in a demanding tradition of honor, courage, and sacrifice until they have earned the right to join the Patrol as guardians of the solar peace. Unfortunately, even the academy’s high power training can’t completely prepare Matt and his friends Tex and Oscar for the harrowing test of both survival and diplomatic skills they will face when a mission goes disastrously wrong.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Classic Heinlein, His second book, and you can see him growing as a truly gifted writer. His style and knowledge of what it was like being a midshipman, and later a navy man shows. You must remember the times Bobert A. Heinlein grew up in, and the trust people had in their government was much different then today. So the idea of circling atomic warheads in orbit, like satilites, the praverbale "sword of Damalces" was not so far fetched.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Space Cadet?

That it was a complete story, not like the bull crap that Hollywood churns out today. The lazy garbage that has very little story, just a lot of conjecture. Like the last Promethus movie, in which the writers havent done any of the hard work needed to flesh out a story, and just offer us a bunch of pretty pictures, and big Ka--splosions!

What does David Baker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a fantastic narrators voice and is full of presence and complements the rest of the actors.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they found the old ship, the long dead Patrol men, who were imortalized in ceremony.

Loved it great for kids, and adults alike.
