    An interesting story of the depression era and all the crazy characters of a struggling circus at that time. I really enjoyed the narration of the main character as he recounts his circus experiences at the age of 93 (...or was it 90); and also the narration of the same character living the experiences as they occurred. Very well written and very well narrated.

    I really enjoyed this book. I have 3 dogs, Golden Retrievers, and truly understand from first hand experience how intuitive, wise, and sensitive dogs are if you treat them with respect. Merle was so full of life and spunk. I am pleased that the author, Mr. Kerasote, rescued him and shared a happy and full life with this magnificent dog.

    I enjoyed this book very much. It was an interesting look at what is a probable outcome of our current course of living in terms of natural resources, war, disease, etc. To go from great abundance and regress to pioneer-type existence. It also caused me to reflect on appreciation of the simple things and more awareness of wastefulness. I enjoyed the development and growth of the characters. A great listen.
