  • Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege: 1942-1943

In August 1942, an overconfident Adolf Hitler would attempt to invade Stalin's namesake city on the Volga. The battle of Stalingrad is extraordinary in every way: the triumphant invader fought to a standstill; then the Soviet trap sprung, surrounding their attackers; and the terrible siege, with Germans starving and freezing, forced to fight on by a disbelieving Hitler.

Ryan says: "Wouldn't have minded unabridged version"
    "Abridged."

After reading the complete version I thought this might be worth a listen but it leaves way to much pertinent information to the way side. However the paper version is excellent.

This faithful rendering of the New King James Version presents the Bible in more than 90 hours of compelling, dramatic audio theater format. This world-class audio production immerses listeners in the dramatic reality of the Scriptures as never before with an original music score by composer Stefano Mainetti (Abba Pater), feature film quality sound effects, and compelling narration by Michael York and the work of over 500 actors.

    "Awful"
    Overall

Absolutely horrible. First of all the melodramatic narration is reprehensible. The narration is terrible and if that is not enough music is played in the back ground to further annoy one into a mood highly unlikely to enjoy listening to the Bible. I wanted a well narrated Bible to enjoy not a pathetic attempt at play acting the scripture by Hollywood’s finest. What a waste of my credit. If you are looking for a simple easy to follow reading this is not for you. If you’re into ridiculous melodrama then have at it.
