This is the second book in the series and I'm really enjoying the overall story. What I'm not enjoying is the bad narration and bizarre music between chapters. What a way to ruin an audiobook. The narrator makes absolutely no attempt to give different voices to her characters. You can't tell one character from another. On top of that....one minute she's screeching and the next she's painfully monotone. I think I can honestly say she's the worst narrator I've ever listened to. Luckily the story is really good, so if you can overlook the poor narration it's worth the credit. If narration really matters you should probably pass.

I can't stick to one favorite scene. There were two that wouldn't let me go. When he was there with Marigold through the doctor's examination. He took her away from that horror. Then he saved her from the rape by the one she thought was her friend. Both reeled me in and broke my heart. She was so brave and it was sad that she had to be.

Absolutely. Tom Stechschutle brings the story to life.

The action mixed with the love story. Great balance that reels you in. Some books are over-sexed with very little plot. This book mixes the two in perfect measure.

When Briony asks Jack for help. They are so conflicted over the situation yet unable to pull away from each other.

Yes I did. It was so compelling that I listed again in case I missed something.

I highly recommend this series. I've listened to them all more than once. One of my favorite series.

I know many think this series is a rip-off of the Black Daggar Brotherhood, which I'm completely devoted to, but I'm really starting to like it for what it is. Yes, there are some similarities in the speaking style and the branding of products, but the stories are completely different. There are enough differences to make listening worthwhile. I really like how both characters are quickly drawn together. I really get bored with the typical romance novels that keep the hero or heroine fighting until the end before finally giving in to what they both want. This series focuses more on the external struggles while allowing the couples to quickly accept their need to be together. The bad guys are really bad and the good guys are really good. The author does a great job of connecting you with each character. Overall I highly recommend giving this series a chance and look forward to what the author has in store for all the other Night Fury members.

A little bit of heaven and a little bit of sadness. I so loved Karen Marie Moning's highlander series. It's sad to know that she's probably done with it. Every book in the series was magical. When Into The Dreaming was offered as an audiobook I immediately jumped on it. It was a short, but fulfilling story. KM Moning's highlanders coupled with Phil Gigante's narration means stories on steroids no matter how short. It's a combination that can't be beat.

I read the reviews about the similarities to the BDB and I really didn't find myself comparing the two. I love the BDB and consider myself an expert on the series. Sure there are the "mine" statements, references to the latest commercial products, and the brotherhood feel. I didn't find it any different than similar paranormal books I've read. Many are all about claiming their one true love, existing in today's world, and belonging to some group or another. I liked how the story moved quickly. The hero and heroine recognized early on that they wanted each other. Most of the angst was saved for the interim battles and the final showdown. I read these types of books for the happy endings and a possible setup for the next in a series. I got that with this one and will defintely read the next in the series.

The story was enthralling. The narrator was captivating. I longed for a happier ending, but guess by imagination will have to do this time. Overall it's a keeper that I'm sure I will revisit in the future.

I love the story and will definitely continue on with the series, but I'm seriously praying they find a new narrator. She doesn't even bother to try to use different voices for different characters. Everyone sounded the same. Probably the worst narrator I've heard to date. The other negative is the creepy music every five minutes. It added absolutely no value to the story and irked me to no end.

Despite the third grade story reading and bad music I was quickly pulled into the story. Dev and Envy are so hot together I had to get out a fan. Beyond that I loved all the other characters smoothly brought into the story and look forward to seeing how the series progresses.

If they find a better narrator and ditch the bad music I think I'm really going to like this series.

So far there's not a negative thing to say about this series. It has completely sucked me in and left me impatiently waiting for the next. It's been awhile since I jumped into a series and by book three still felt completely enthralled. This author continues to up the bar. It's really refreshing.

In the beginning it appears our star-crossed lovers are doomed, but neither gives up the fight despite everything against them. This is the kind of romance novel I live for. Beyond that, I love the fact that our heroine is intelligent and never stops using her brain despite the odds. With every boulder thrown in their path Bronwyn stops to think about it, talk through it with Lucian, and determine the best course of action FOR THEM BOTH. She is as physically driven as he is yet she stops to consider the situation and find answers to solving their predicament instead of running away, pouting, and waiting for him to fix things. I love a heroine with a real brain and a pair of her own. I also loved how the author doesn't pretty up their physical attraction, but leaves it raw and inciting. Their love talk is a total turn on. It may be too x-rated for some, but completely fits the attitude of the main characters. Give me mmmmoooorrrrreeee.

I loved the way Lucian understood his fate, but didn't really give in to it. He recognized his love for Bronwyn and was willing to fight for whatever time they had with each other. I teared up when he told her he wanted whatever time they had, but would end his life when the change finally came. He couldn't bear having her know him as any other man than hers. You gotta love it!

The sub-plots were equally as engrossing. I can't wait to hear more about Sin's future and Dillon's future. I hope they are books in the making. This author knows how to capture an audience and I wholly look forward to how she continually builds her world.

After taking advantage of one of Audible's "Try The First Book in a Series" options I fell madly in love with the story and the characters in Storm Born. When finished, I immediately jumped into the Thorn Queen and again was not disappointed. As for Iron Crowned....WHAT HAPPENED? It was like Eugenie had a frontal lobotomy or something. In the first two books she was intelligent, considerate, caring, and rational. In Iron Crowned she became weak, ineffective, sort-of-sleazy, and unable/unwilling to think about the consequences of her unendingly poor decisions. I quit listening several times only to go back later with hope that maybe she would get her act together. But no such luck.

The minute Eugenie turns on Dorian and picks up so easily with the shallow, self-centered Kiyo again, I thought I was done. I mean talk about a ridiculous about-face. She didn't even bother to take two minutes to try to work things out with the person she supposedly loves. She instead makes up her mind without speaking to him, justifies cheating on him, then acts all self-righteous throughout the rest of the book. That was when I first quit listening. Later I thought surely Ms Read would not leave her heroine incapable of learning from her mistakes, but sorry, no chance of that happening. After that every decision she made was so ridiculous all I could do was shake my head and ask, "Really?"

On top of the Eugenie character meltdown I wondered why Ms Read couldn't at least keep her powers together. One minute she's all powerful and the next she's useless. She's supposed to be Storm King's daughter and the most powerful of all the Gentry yet she's constantly getting her a$$ handed to her. Come on. I understand flawed characters and their appeal, but either she's powerful or she's not.....a little consistency please. The nail in the coffin to this story was her handling of Kiyo when he.....Surprise!.....turns on her then she goes groveling back to Dorian. Uuuhhhgggg - I can no longer muster an ounce of respect.

Since this book has so deflated my excitement about the series I went online to read other reviews about the next book, Shadow Heir, which is the final in the series. I needed some hope that it wasn't more of the same so I could finish the series feeling at least a little positive. Unfortunately for me about half the reviews pretty much portray more of the same decay to the story-line and the characters. From what I've read, the ending in Shadow Heir has left so many readers reeling and upset that I've decided I don't want to go there. I've never dumped a series before, but this time I must. Unless you like to be left angry and frustrated with no answers to the most basic questions, sub-plots that add no substance, and a wishy-washy heroine that sinks to new lows right up to the end, don't waste a credit.
