The narration of the story was wonderful, and I like the fact that though this story was a relatively light read, there is still a lot of content to think about after the story ends. I especially liked the themes of love, revenge and reconciliation that the author addresses in this book.
the only major bummer about these books is that they come out once a year. I really wish there could be two books a year from Elantra.
Well, Kaylen has grown a lot since the first book, and she still has a long way to go. I think the one thing that astounds me is that given all the death and short lives around her, Kaylen hasn't just said to herself: look, I'm going to decide on who I love, admit it to myself and to him, and go for it because life's too short. But in thinking about that, it's probably not a Kaylen sort of move. I did miss the dragons, but loved getting to know more about the Barani.
The one thing that drives me a little nuts about the series is the constant switching of narrators. this one definitely took me some time to get used to, although I do think he did his homework with the Carpathian pronunciations. It does help lead up to Skylar and Dimitri's story, so I would read this one first definitely. And I can't say I was bored at all during the hours I listened to it.
I was worried I wouldn't like the book, because you pretty much know who the suspect is from the very beginning of the book. And man, I could picture something like that happening. I think what I love most about these books, and it has been reconfirmed in my brain, is just seeing how the characters continue to grow throughout the books. I especially loved the very ending scene with the letter; it mademe cry good tears.
Granted, Maurice was supposed to be hooked by it, but I could totally picture not being awake and grabbing the first thing you can to defend yourself. And so I began my thorough enjoyment of this first book in the Monster Haven series, where things that might look frightening aren't, and things that seem harmless can be.
This book had a lot of twists and turns in the ;ot I could never have foreseen. I also laughed even more while listening to this book than I have the previous two books. I look forward to discovering even more about Zoey
I really enjoyed this story. the Leprechaun Mafia was a different and unique twist, and I also liked meeting the goblins. I think Zoey's adventures are even better in this book than they were in the first book.
I really enjoyed this book. My particular favorite was the Book of Daniel. It was great having some of the mysteries solved.
I don't normally read really short books, but I really like BrandonSanerson's work. I was not disappointed with this. I really loved the story. I really loved how it ended. I am so glad I got it.
I thoroughly enjoy the Mercy Thompson books, and this one was no exception. In this bookwe get to know a lot more about the vampires and about Wolf in particular.
I was very glad to start reading this book, and I have to say I was not disappointed. I think this new series will be darker than the Elder Races books, but I still really enjoyed the first book of this series. I am glad it's not the same old thing where the author thought if it worked for the first series, why not just change place and character names and start a similar series. I will definitely be getting the next book.
