  • Playing Possum

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Charlaine Harris
    • Narrated By Angela Dawe, Natalie Ross, Amanda Ronconi, and others

"Playing Possum": Sookie Stackhouse brings enough birthday cupcakes for her nephew's entire class but finds she's one short when the angry ex-boyfriend of the school secretary shows up. "Dahlia Underground": Venerable vampire Dahlia Lynley-Chivers survives an attack by an anti-vampire terrorist group, only to show them they tried to blow up the wrong bloodsucker.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrators! Johanna Parker is the voice of Sookie Stackhouse. So very disappointed by this and doubt that I will finish listening to it. Amanda Ronconi is just wrong and she mispronounces names. At least listen to previous audiobooks or read the series to learn how they should be pronounced!

Would you be willing to try another book from Charlaine Harris? Why or why not?

    I have every other book

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?

    Johanna Parker

  • Dark Witch: The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Nora Roberts
    • Narrated By Katherine Kellgren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

"I think I've read this book before"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

If I had not read other NR trilogies that follow the same formula, I would have enjoyed more.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I think NR has run out of story lines and is rehashing with new names and venues. Next will be a book about Connor and Mara (who realize they are more than just friends) then the big finale with Finn and Branna (who have been star crossed). Over and over this pattern occurs.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Nothing stands out as new or fresh

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Any additional comments?

NR should either try some new material or retire. This has become tedious.

  • Allegiant: Divergent Trilogy, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Veronica Roth
    • Narrated By Emma Galvin, Aaron Stanford
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

What if your whole world was a lie? What if a single revelation - like a single choice - changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected? The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times best-selling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of listeners in Divergent and Insurgent.

Judy says: "What a let down!"
    "So very disappointed"
What would have made Allegiant better?

A different premise for the existence of the experimental cities and a different ending.

What could Veronica Roth have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    A different ending.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    The narration was good.

    Any additional comments?

This was such a different style from the first two books and lacked the substance that they had. I anticipated this book for so many months and this is one of the biggest let downs ever.

You'll buy the book because you must know what happens. Thankfully the narration is good, but the story and ending are a huge disappointment.
