I really enjoyed the pace of the reading of this book. The reader seemed interested in the content he was reading and had just the right pace for the absorption of the content.
The content of the book itself is also very good. You may not agree with everything Jaron says but there are definitely some insights that are worth thinking about and investigating for yourself. He finishes off with a personal account of his research interests which I found both enlightening and heart-warming.
I wouldn't recommend this book to all my friends but I know that some of them would enjoy it as much as I did. It's for romantics that think too much sometimes. It's for realists that love to fall in love nevertheless.
There are many memorable moments...but perhaps what stands out now after a couple weeks is the way intimacy in the couple is revealed and lost. The fight scenes are funny in a "oh yeah, I've been there" kinda way.
It was my first James Wilby book and I enjoyed his reading very much.
I guess it was the main male character because he's so introspective to the point of absurdity but also insightful.
This book is amazing. It is the first audiobook I've purchased to make me cry and laugh. I look like a fool walking to work!
The book is performed, not read. The performers are so good you look forward to the different characters. The story is heart-warming and heart-rending at the same time.
Get this audiobook, you won't regret it.
This book was first recommended to me by a good friend. She had read the book, not listened to the audio version. When I looked at the reviews for the audio version I was a bit taken aback by the polarized opinions on the reader. I decided to take a chance after hearing the sample. I am so glad I did. This is by far my most cherished audio book so far. The author does a marvelous job reading her own book. She performs it. She feels it. I have about 20 minutes left in the book and I don't want it to end. I'm leaving it for the perfect moment.
The story is epic, sad, ordinary, and the same time completely enlightening. Several times I wished I could have done the audio equivalent of underlining a turn of phrase, so perfectly put. This book is a treasure.
