I like these stories, my first time reading any Father Brown. They are entertaining and easy to read. BUT why have the street noises, footsteps, birds singing, etc so loud you must strain to hear the dialog. If the radio players want to have these sound effects, great but they should be more in the background. I like the stories, and voices otherwise.
I find this constantly surprised sounding narration very difficult to follow. I can't tell one sentence from another and can not pay attention to the story
I like Katherine Kellgren's narrations so much i tried a different genre and quite unexpectedly enjoyed this romance. The heroine, Cora Cash, is nicely rounded as a character, however the Duke could use more fleshing out. BUT this did not stop me from enjoying the book.
This book moves fast from the opening lines until the last. I could not stop listening LOL Now I'll have to read more. I like the pace of tone of this book, the hero is not typical at all, except he believes in right and wrong and sticks to his own moral code. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the "Jason Bourne" Series. The narrator, Jay Snyder was perfect in my minds eye.
probably not, i don't particularly like the detectives in this story. I found this very hard to keep my mind on. I have been listening to books for years and this book could not hold my attention. i found the people and plot annoying. Sorry it just wasn't for me
finished this tweo days ago and don't even remeber the ending
There seemed to be sooooo much missing. The narrator is OK, but being used to Scott Brick for this series it was jarring to hear the familiar characters with odd voices.
yes... to check for the unabridged version, which to my surprise was already in my library. Imagine my chagrin to realize i'd paid twice for this. BUT I can say the story was unrecognizable from the longer version.
yes and no. The story was choppy because of the abridgment but what i was able to catch was entertaining.
once the unabridged version with Barbara Rosenblat comes out then yes. Until then read the book.
I have listened to all the books in this series. Ms Rosenblat brings a unique voice to each character. They are easily recognizable and suit the personalities well. I read many of the books before listening to them and can say she caught their voices perfectly.
please bring Ms Rosenblat back to the series for these unabridged versions. I have nothing against Ms O'Malley but her characterization is flat after listening to so many of these in Ms Rosenblat's voice.
entertaining, sweet, educational
The breech birth scene was so intense and exactingly told I could not put this down. In fact the entire book went by too fast. I think people of all ages would enjoy these stories all from the 1950's East End of London
all of it
no I would not recommend this book. The voices are too hard to follow and the story is dragging I don't even want to finish the book. I like CJ Critt. I've listened to other series and her voices are perfect, so I don't know if it's the characters here or the story... BUT I don't want to hear more
yes, because the story was entertaining and funny.
Not on the edge but certainly entertained.
EVERYTHING she is great! I could not imagine another person reading this. She is these people!!!
Nor take off the headphones. From the very moment they start I'm hooked. I like Scott Bricks voice. I like the story's the suspense, heroics, humor, and grit.
