The Case of the Lucky Legs is the story of a confidence man who promoted fake beauty pageants in small California towns. Marjorie Clune was one of his winning victims, "The Girl with the Lucky Legs". She was promised a Hollywood movie contract, but the scam artist fled with the money. Marjorie fled too; left her hometown in shame to try and “prove” herself in Hollywood. Perry Mason is hired to track her down, but when the deceitful pageant promoter turns up murdered, Marjorie becomes the prime suspect in this “edge of your seat” murder mystery.

I wasn't sure if I would like these radio-stories or not. I do. In fact I like them quite a bit and hope more come to audible. I've enjoyed reading a lot of the books in print and I think Jerry Robbins does great justice to Perry Mason. I always found that in the books Perry was more edgy than the TV version. In fact when you read the books you really see WHY the DA hates Perry so much.... These dramatizations are definitely show this side of Perry too.

At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Kathy Claus says: "This is one I didn't want to put down!"

If you could sum up Call the Midwife in three words, what would they be?

    entertaining, sweet, educational

What was one of the most memorable moments of Call the Midwife?

The breech birth scene was so intense and exactingly told I could not put this down. In fact the entire book went by too fast. I think people of all ages would enjoy these stories all from the 1950's East End of London

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    all of it

Maggody, Arkansas (pop. 755) is regarded by most as a two-bit hick town, filled with one-bit hicks. But Mrs. Jim Bob Buchanon seeks to change that with her latest scheme - a charity golf tournament! This presents a bit of a challenge, since no one in Maggody plays golf and there is no course. But when the prize for the first hole-in-one is announced - a top of the line bass boat - nearly everyone in town quickly develops a profound interest in the sport...including a killer.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

no I would not recommend this book. The voices are too hard to follow and the story is dragging I don't even want to finish the book. I like CJ Critt. I've listened to other series and her voices are perfect, so I don't know if it's the characters here or the story... BUT I don't want to hear more

It started a little slow, then went on interminably. I kept waiting and waiting for the story to really start and it never did. Someone else wrote this was a 16 hour introduction for the next book, and they were correct. Forget this one and read the next Dead or Alive. The narration was OK, though I prefer Michael Prichard or Scott Brick. the problem with this book was not the narrator.

Enjoy four Father Brown mysteries in this full cast audio drama. In "The Actor and the Alibi", Father Brown discovers that the cast of a famous stage comedy might include a killer. In "The Worst Crime in the World", something is amiss at Musgrave Castle! In "The Insoluble Problem", Father Brown's best friend is a master thief who's been assigned the task of catching another thief. In "The Eye of Apollo", Flambeau, the thief-turned-detective, shares an office building with the high priest of a new religion.

I like these stories, my first time reading any Father Brown. They are entertaining and easy to read. BUT why have the street noises, footsteps, birds singing, etc so loud you must strain to hear the dialog. If the radio players want to have these sound effects, great but they should be more in the background. I like the stories, and voices otherwise.

I would recommend someone READ a hard copy of this book if this is the only audio version available. Great story, as usual from Clancy, poor robotic, monotone narration. It has been a struggle to pay attention.

The last camel is dead, and Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, her dashing husband, Emerson, and precocious son, Ramses, are in dire straits on the sun-scorched desert sands. Months before, back in cool, green England, Viscount Blacktower had approached them to find his son and his son's new bride, who have been missing in war-torn Sudan for over a decade. An enigmatic message scrawled on papyrus and a cryptic map had been delivered to Blacktower, awakening his hope that the couple was still alive.

    Story

Great story, but I did not care for this narrator. I prefer Barbara Rosenblat and her varied character voices. That is the only reason I gave this book a 3 rating. The Emerson-Peabody clan is again involved in an interesting mystery. This time far away from Cairo, or the valley of the kings. The family ventures to Sudan and a mysterious oasis in search of an Englishman and his wife. What they find is intrigue, political power-plays and a people practicing the religion of ancient Egypt.
