Khaled Hosseini is obviously known for his first two books and many people commented that this wasn't another Kite Runner. I agree and think that was a good thing. I loved his first two books and I loved this one as well. It was a unique work that engaged me the whole time. He does an amazing job of painting a vivid and detailed picture of his characters and their lives.
If you run, thought about running or appreciate the art of running in any way, you'll want to read this. It randomly showed up as a suggestion when it first came out and couldn't put it down. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
FYI, this is not a how to get faster book but you may be inspired to kick off your shoes and do 50 miles in the hills.
I hate to be the one negative guy here but I was really disappointed by this book. The plot seemed predictable and the characters were too stereotypical and flat. The guy reading the book made it worse with the different voices he used for each character. I was expecting something on par with Tom Clancy and was disappointed. The author did a good job of writing to the Jack Bauer shoot em in the knee cap crowd. So if that’s you get the book.
