Lewis Black hit his apogee at "if it weren't for my horse". And he hasn't had an orginal thought since. It's like he pulls all his material from sitcoms he's watched. Everything he says in this book is either obvious, cliche, or just plain boring. It's just painful to listen to... but I'm still trying just because I paid for it.

I can see how religious folks and "pseudo-science" practitioners would hate this guy. He was unafraid of the real answers from real analysis and was willing to 'wait and see' with an open mind about the rest. The physics speeches were fun & inspiring, but his scientific look at psychology and religion were most honest & refreshing. "Experts" & preachers beware!

There were creepy parts in this book to be sure, but most of it was made up of exhaustive family tree data, historical research, and court proceedings. I particularly enjoyed getting into the lead investigator's head on how careful & smart he had to be to not risk losing a true conviction via a default insanity defense. The differentiators in this case become obvious later on. Tr?s Law & Order but real! Definitely learned a lot and I'm glad I read it.

This was a nice book full of great little tools to figure out your needs, your environment, and your habits... not necessarily in that order. At the end, though, I found myself a bit confused about whether the net result of the book really advanced me any useful way. Still pondering that one.

Carter nailed it. What an amazingly sharp mind, eloquent storyteller, and all-round ethical human being. Anyone disputing him on the topic of Israeli treatment of Palestinians is either deceiver or deceived.

This book is a classic for all the right reasons. Ethan Hawke does a wonderful job of reading it in a whispery and dark way. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I want MORE!

This was an amazing book. The commute miles just flew by and, unlike with fiction, I was still enriching my mind and learning new trivia with which to annoy my wife and coworkers.

From the first paragraph, this book is captivating in a guilty, gross, leering way. The narrator is perfect for this type of text and the author's sense of humor is transferred to the listener in the best possible way. I only wish I could find another audiobook this intresting... or two or three.

This book should not have been read out loud. I felt sorry for the narrator and dropped it after the first hour. There's about 25 minutes wasted reading a spreadsheet cell by cell!!! Later I came back and tried to continue... and lasted about 30 minutes before I had to stop. Wow, what a dull book.

This book took a long time to explain to me what I already knew. That said, I didn't know I knew it and I learned a lot about how to use my quick judgements better. Furthermore, this book armed me with empowering tales of how thin slicing (quick, accurate judgements) can help me and cautionary tales of how it can be misused. All in all a great read. I highly recommend it.
