Robin Sachs gives an outstanding reading to three of Nesbo's novels. Listen to this before Devil's Star and the Snowman. "Redbreast" should be the first. Skip the non-Sachs reading of "Nemesis" and go to "Devil's Star" second and then the Snowman. You will listen to all three if you listen to this. Sachs makes Harry Hole manifest more clearly than the book does. Addicting and great stuff. Set in Oslo and referencing Oslo's neo-nazis and gun-runners in its narrative.

Couldn't listen to the narrator after five minutes. And I've just listened to three other Nesbo books in the Harry Hole series in the last two weeks. It's the narrator...who is markedly less effective in reading this Norwegian novel translation than Robin Sachs. Perhaps he can read a western...dunno...but this book is way out of his skill set. So disappointing that Nesbo and Audible ought to bite the bullet and pay Robin Sachs to redo this version...I bought the book...I'm reading it on my Iphone Kindle app...

An audible book will beat the written book...most of the time...in my book...

Quanah Parker? Never heard of him till this book. Shame on American history books...and American public schools...by far the most interesting and heavy duty of ALL the native Americans I've heard about from the Wild West...and the book and reader tell a story you can't put down...that is to say can't put down your headset.

The second best (after "Wolf Hall") reading I've heard...out of several hundred. Knocked me out.

This is a listen that is deep and long...with a great story, four characters I cared about and a very good narration. Franzen can write...there are sexy scenes, painful scenes, riffs that made me laugh...others that made me cringe...It's a big feeling book...and I mean that positively ....If you're a fiction lover...you'll become hooked fairly early. It's justifiably one of the 2010 NYTBR five best fiction books...

Just finished the truly great...and exciting...story of The Lock Artist. Narration is outstanding. Along with "Wolf Hall" it is a perfectly told version of a great book. One of the NYTBR 2010 top 100 books, it is a coming of age...adventure...crime novel...love story...about a boy who goes mute via traumatic event and falls into a netherword where he becomes a "box man" for hire. No spoiler details here...Just great writing...and reading. I have listened to well over 150 books...some for fifteen minutes before bailing out...and some for over 20 hours of pleasure...this is one not to miss. I'm recommending this audio version over the book...hard to imagine that reading is better than this particular narration.

This is a short novel...aka a novella...and it's worth the price of entry. I greatly enjoyed the author's "The Great Circus Fire" and this is a small but tasty slice of life taking place on the last night of a restaurant that's going out of business.

I'll begin with the author's reading skills: Pretty damn good. Above average voice and tone...While true that reading your own book at the Audible.com level is generally a poor idea....this proves to be an exception.

Since it's very well written and tells a story that I found fascinating...I have to give four stars...more like 4.3...Some might not like the multiple digressions into Russian history, animal psychology, and lots of other words ending with "ology" but the digressions are the book...otherwise, it's a short magazine article about events that occurred on the border area between Russian and China where the biggest of the big cats dwell...in dwindling numbers...supported by some dedicated Russian "inspectors" and wildlife foundations....endangered by poachers seeking to sell tiger parts to morons in China and elsewhere that revere tiger penises and bones as "medicine"...The narrative revolves around the killings by a tiger in 1996 that terrorized the small region...the book is a travel book...history book...adventure book...nature book...and a must read for big cat fans.

Sounds like a screenplay being read with some flesh on it...Davis tho is one of Audibles best narrators...if you're going to listen...skip incoherent intro by author. The "White Devil" and "shrewd Asian" patter got to be rather goofy. I bailed after half an hour.

I dug it...and any fan of the trilogy it leads to must listen...

Great reader and very well written. Seems fictional but it's true....and well constructed...sociopath as hero...An amazing story about a con man who is better than an insurance salesman and an architect combined.
