"OH do get it, it's really is a FUN read!"
NO, the audio version is simply delightful thanks to Katherine Kellgren and her many talents. You will enjoy the audio!
Not really "another" book, but all the books in this particular series are delightful.
I have read all of the Royal Spyness books, and this narrator will not disappoint you.
Yes, of course. I wasn't on the edge of my seat or biting my fingernails, but did want to know what was going to happen. This series is not an in depth mystery book, but a mystery that keeps you wondering if you can figure out the guilty person before the narrator will tell you. But the characters become so familiar to you, and they are seem to leap off the "pages", and you will many a times laugh out loud, I certainly did.
Sometimes, the characters and the stories of this whole series became predictable, but I would still recommend getting the books!! Enjoy them!
"Gripping and original"
Yes I would listen to it again, as not to miss the nuances and some transitions.
I liked Laurel.
No, no extreme reaction, just a good book, that I will reread again.
Worth the credit!
"All is well that ends well"
I truly enjoyed the series. This one just sums it all up and puts a bow on the package. I loved the series in audio form as Davina Porter does a wonderful job. You will get to know the characters so much better thanks to her personal touch.
I did like Sir Philip the best - as he is not the "norm".
She is one of the best :)
No, no extreme reaction - just a lovely wrap up.
The series were well worth the money - I believe I got most of them on sale. You will enjoy listening to these books while traveling, on the way to work, or just a leisure day in the sun.
"Not an "OUTLANDER" book"
I probably would not try the author again. The story was just so deja vu, and so stereo typed, how head strong women are today and how they were not like that ages ago. The laird being macho bad guy, yet ..... you get the picture.
Katherine Kellgren did a good job for all characters
If it were more unpredictable and had more history and depth to it.
I would not waste a credit for this book.
"My first Kinsella"
I bought the book based on reviews. The quirky and witty way of the authors writing made the book charming and enjoyable. However, the story was not very believable, but getting the book on sale is worth it.
I like the persistence of the ghost - but I DID NOT FALL IN LOVE with the main character. She was not a very honest person and that bugged me. She had other good qualities, but overall leans to become annoying.
There are several funny scenes, I don't want to spoil the book.
The Dragonfly necklace
Did not like the bad language, was uncalled for. Needed a bit more character development It is a "light read" nothing that makes you think or change your ways. I might give the author another try based on reviews.
Narration was ok -- male voices were just ok.
"good series, but predictable"
MC Beaton seriously lacks imagination, Mrs Budley nothing else than all the other folks that join the poor relation. It is a poor relation imaginary book.
get more spicy and more courageous......
all of them if it weren't for Davina Porter I would have not listened to these series
nope it is all so predicatable
only get it on sale
"Worth a credit"
Well, I have been writing sincere review after review and nobody cares. So, here you go, you want to put down a credit do it, if not don't . Because no matter what I say you folks dont' care, I read all my previews before I buy a book, rate them accordingly, but you guys don't care. So WHY on earth should I bother. You got too much money, go ahead, and spend a credit.
none
davina porter makes the series
NO, it was a repetition to all the others, but I enjoyed it. So it is repetitive repetitive, repetive, repetivie, whatever!
repetitive, and you can guess what happens within all the books, so go ahead and don't like m comments
"Easy listen - worth getting if on sale"
The series is a fun read. This is book 1 and in this book Lady Fortescue, widowed and alone save for two loyal, unpaid servants, has sold off almost all of the furnishings in her large Bond Street home and faces a grim future. To the rescue comes Colonel Sandhurst - and many other impoverished aristocrats. The characters are likeable and well developed.
The book shines the light on real problems during those days, many historic facts and some funny happenings.
In book 1 my favorite character was Colonel Sandhurst as he compliments the more opinionated Lady Fortescue.
Ms. Porter just knows how to read, act, and draw you in - she is superb.
I would highly recommend this series IF books are on sale - a credit better reserved for something a bit more deep and longer in audio hours. But overall I would recommend the book(s).
"A slice out of life, meaningful, touching and true"
One of the best I have read in a long long time. The writing is superb. The story draws you in. You feel for all the characters. What a gem!
Don't want to spoil but I loved the little boy and his fast pencil
Excellent narration with the correct emotions and nuances. Job well done.
Unc's wife. Would have loved to hear a bit more from her
This book will grab you and you will walk away with a deeper insight. Well worth a credit.
"Easy read"
I got this book for free so I listened to it. The previous M.Harper book I read did not do much or me. This book although an easy read is just to unrealistic for me
This is her genre, vampires, mindless women ,some sex ,some background story forced humor. Nothing to be changed.
Narration was good.
I would not pay a credit but maybe get the book on sale
"Not worth your time and credit"
Flat story. Characters are unrealistic, bland and underdeveloped. Some emotions or behaviors were well characterized but overall this is a miss.
No
The performance killed it for me. The female voices were stiff and over articulated. The male voices were horrible. They made me cry and I am still sobbing.
English was well written. Some aspects poked my wanting to keep listening but there was no connection between the reader and the characters
Would not waste a credit on this book and avoid this narrator
