Beautifully written. The story line is different, seducing... yet... I felt that I could NEVER identify with the characters. On one hand the author went deep into their psyche, on the other hand, the reader feels left out. The book is good, but NOT as good as the book "THE HELP", and NOT as insightful for sure. Would I recommend the book. YES , if you don't know what else to read, NO, if you are frugal with your credits. Overall, the book was good, the narration was well done, sometimes I had a hard times understanding the dialect, overall, couldn't identify with all of the characters.
The character of Lucia was well developed,as were those of her family and friends, especially her boss Delmarr, who I particularly liked. Lucia, although very Italian was trying to cut off her "old world ties" and live in this wonderful New World she had been placed in. She is very talented and wants to take her life into her own hands, but.... The story keeps flowing and has some twists and unexpected happenings.
I felt that Lucia was a very real heroine. Her poise, loyalty and grace made her decisions understandable and it is so hard to understand her if one is self-centered. I felt I learned a heart warming lesson through Lucia. You will love the story.
No, I haven't, but her performance was good.
This book is worth a credit.
Joel Rosenberg skillfully weaves the feelings, complexities and insights of Christianity and Muslims into an exciting, cutting-edge political thriller. The characters are believable and the story has a interesting underlying love story. I recommend this book if you want to learn a bit more about the Middle East and what "could" be going on.
Yes, it was energizing.
Well narrated, he added depth to the story.
Integrity, Leadership, Family
Not a favorite scene - but an eye opener. It is amazing to discover that the Clintons are actually very good friends with the Bush Family. They don't tear each other apart. They work with each other. Wish we all did the same.
Heartwarming. The reader will appreciate the love that was put into writing this book. It is full of respect, admiration, and stories that will make you smile. The book's value is increased due to it's characters still being alive and so much part of us. History in the making, but also History that's unique in its father/son relationship.Worth a credit.
True story of a young girl sold into slavery, with all it's hidden, dark and dirty aspects. A not too much talked about subject matter, yet, a true story. I was beguiled by the story and wanted to know what was going to happen next. Cannot and actually refuse to understand parent that sell their children - and in this case - WHY THIS particular one?
Shyima is my favorite character, only she can tell it the way she felt it.
Great narration, warm voice and clearly spoken.
I would recommend the book, even for young adults.
A believable story with charming characters. This is a story about family and friendship, love and loss, hope and dreams. It is also about the choices made during our lifetimes and how we deal with life’s up and downs.
Narration was GREAT.
Yes, the story draws you in.
Highly recommend the book, it is worth 1 credit.
Wonderful, Educational, and this book is a page turner. Rich in history!
Caroline Lee's performance is excellent!
Worth a credit. Don't miss out on this one.
I love books that are written in first person. Not long after you start listening you feel one with the author. The simplicity and matter of fact analysis of the author's account seem simple at first, yet are very rich and profound, once you think about them.
There was no particular moment I would pick, but the way Sara handled and acted in different situations was remarkable, somewhat unexpected, witty and shaped and saved some of the lives of those that met her.
I got this book on sale, but it's worth a credit. Yes, it is a Holocaust story, but what I liked most about it was that Sara did not seem bitter and hateful. She ended up being the master of her destiny - in a worldly sense.
I would give it a B- -- it's a cute story, and a very light read, just wonderful to take your mind off a stressful day.
Some humor and the assistant of the main character is a hoot.
Mrs. Ronconi did a good job.
Almost, but I did have to sleep some
Ending is a bit abrupt? and confusing? However if you can get it on sale, like I did, get it.
Probably not. Some sections are funny , most is missed comedy. Mindy Kaling although fun on TV, does not come through in her own book. It's all somewhat flat!
nothing, someone else should have read the book
would not recommend
I could not put the "book" down - the memoir was well written, felt honest, gripping and made me realize again, that without courageous men like our army, or christian men (and women), or strong women believing in causes, and fighting for them, we all would not be were are now.
The book leads you in an unseen world and without disclosing everything you feel that you understand the mind and the honor and sense of duty of the sniper.
I haven't read any other books like this, it's my first one. Got it for husband who is in Afghanistan, and because it was daily deal - would have gladly given a credit for it.
I enjoyed Howard the most - what a tough guy, what perseverance. Mr. Porter did a great job reading the book. Very manly and military like!
Yes, and I almost did...
Worth a credit - and thanks to all citizens of the free world that fight for us.
