"8 Hrs of a 36 Hr book worth listening"
Started out engaging then went 100 yrs in the future and went totally flat. I also hated the abrupt ending. I won't buy a book again because Stephen King liked it. Live and learn.
"As good as "The Stand"
This is one of my favorite books. Great to see Audible produce it. Extremely well done. If you like Post-Apocalyptic fiction, this is one of the best!
"Fun take on Vampires"
I wasn't sure I would care for this as the plot is similar to Dan Simmon's Children of the Night (Recent listen). I found this about as logical as a vampire book could be. I liked the involvment of the CDC and was drawn in by the characters. The best test -- I wanted to continue listening after I reached my destination!
"Even if you are not a fantasy fan!"
The characters are well drawn and endearing. I enjoyed this so much, I thought I would purchase another fantasy book -- well, that made we realize how good this book really is. I ended up giving up on The Swords of Shanarra because it was so repetitive and the characters one-dimensional. I look forward to more by this young writer who already outshines seasoned veterans.
"Great for Vacation"
I just listened to this while vacationing on the beach in Florida and it was a perfect "listen" while walking up and down the beach. Beautifully narrated, this tale was totally engrossing from the beginning. As a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, I was thrilled with this very original plot. I found the writing extremely visual. It just ended too soon! This work compares to "The Handmaid's Tale" and totally outshines Atwood's "The Blind Assassin".
"Just didn't make the grade"
I typically enjoy Atwood. However, this was too distracting. I literally had to work my way through this book. While Alias Grace started slow (Unabridged), it gained momentum and you eventually became involved. I never reached that point with this book. I do have high hopes for the new Sci Fi though.
"Different opinion"
I loved this book -- I found the characters interesting and the reader excellent. If, like me, you are alway looking for unabridged titles, check this one out.
"Sooo bad!"
I too, have listened to many audible books and yes this was the worst! Don't waste your book club purchase on this -- stupid plot and redundant.
"The Fountainhead"
A joy to listen! Christopher Hurt is my favorite narrator, so I decided to give this book a try. While, this is out of my normal genre, I was mesmerized. The narration and pace keep you involved throughout. While the depiction of females is antiquated, there is plenty of food for thought throughout. I like Atlas Shrugged even better!
