The promise, as I remember it, happened this way. Happy and content in his hometown of Aurora, Minnesota, Cork O'Connor has left his badge behind and is ready for a life of relative peace, setting up shop as a private investigator. But his newfound state of calm is soon interrupted when Henry Meloux, the Ojibwe medicine man and Cork's spiritual adviser, makes a request: Will Cork find the son that Henry fathered long ago?

If you could sum up Thunder Bay in three words, what would they be?

    Interesting, historical, captivating

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot keeps the listener on the edge. One thinks the answer is clear and then

Have you listened to any of Buck Schirner???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great performance by Buck Schirner. Am listening to another book read by him right now. He IS Cork O'Connor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Didn't get to sleep till 3:30 A.M. one night because I began listening that evening at around 7:30 and finally turned the iPod off at 3:30A.M.

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

    Story
What made the experience of listening to All the Light We Cannot See the most enjoyable?

The performance was exceptional. The story was not the regular "war book' story. The end was better than expected.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Verner. A young man who was torn between what he was told was right and what he "knew" to be right.

Have you listened to any of Zach Appelman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    This is my first

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes. I was moved by the finding of only the "key" in the little model of the house.

    Any additional comments?

An excellent book. Well written with great characters. I wondered about them this morning, even though I knew some were dead. Again - great characters!! If you are a WWII buff - don't miss this one.
