Counting series as one, top ten. Admittedly, I didn't love book 1- I usually prefer mysteries with a bit more to them in this genre, but I'm SO glad I stuck it out, I thought this one was a ton of fun.
Honestly, I don't usually listen to books with this much of a romance bent to them- they always seem rather silly. Laurie R. King's Mary Russell series is one of my all time favorites- this is sort of a cross between that and maybe a Jane Austin novel with a hint more lightheartedness.
The creepy Count Dragomere
Moved me to laughter, yes- several
Yes! I'm so glad I stuck out the first three books, the fourth was lots of fun and this fifth seems like the beginning of something really great. Delightfully comic- think Pink Panther- and yet becoming a true spy mystery this time. Am hooked and hoping for another soon!
There are many zany characters to enjoy, but I think one finds oneself most glued to the plight of Lady Georgiana, the main character, who's very real even in her flawed and humorous ways.
The first book I found her voice a little off-putting, but by this point in the series, she has managed to convey an amazing number of characters differently- very well done.
