"Pretty good story"
Corey Solves Another.
John Corey is a great character, which DeMille has used in several books. His dry humor and stoicism are done very well.
Brick captures the ambiance of the setting and characters very well.
I like DeMille's books and have read several, so got this story to try out audible.com. I enjoyed it, although it's perhaps not his best work. Still, it is worthwhile for a quick listening experience.
"Good Listen"
I enjoyed the delivery of the reader, which added to the story.
The plot was great, even though I saw the movie years ago.
Recommended.
"An Okay Listen but..."
The beginning sort of hooked me on the story. It started as an interesting premise. Later in the story the plot lost me. I found it at some point to get too far fetched.
The performance was okay, but not up to Brick's high standard.
depends on the actors. it could make a good movie.
"A great reading."
The reader was excellent. The story started very strongly, but there came a point when it went too far. The reader saved it for me.
Good characters, good start and ending, but becomes far fetched at one point.
"Very good plot and performance"
The reader did a very good job on the voices.
The plot was interesting, but confusing at times, convoluted, so pay attention, and if you lose it, go back.
I liked his Watson, and he did a good job on most.
As I said above, pay attention. At one point I was lost because I went a few days without listening and there are confusing elements, lots of characters. Overall a very good listen.
"Much more than SciFi"
Great plot. Good performance. Some reviewers didn't agree, but I felt it was just right.
My first experience with Heinlein and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The characters are well developed and I was impressed with the thoughtfulness. This is not just a SciFi book. Of course, if you can't go there (to SciFi) then this is not for you.(I'm 64, read SciFi when younger, and bought this audible book on a whim, just to see what Heinlein was like. It surprised me.)
