This is not a love story (I think many of the readers think that is what this book should be about). This is about taking life and dealing with the consequences of your actions. It is about examining your actions and the actions of others. It is about PTSD and about the fight to recover. I think this is a book that every young person should read. The value of Suzanne Collins' words, thoughts and ideas is almost unmeasurable.
Some reviewers imply the book isn't good because there is no happy everafter. I have 2 comments: 1st- There often isn't a happy everafter for those who have endured war. 2nd- I applaud Ms. Collins for not falling for the need for happpy everafter and staying true to her story.
After much eye rolling and heavy sighs, I have decided to turn the book off. I just cannot do it. Weak female lead. I like almost everyone else in the book but the main character. Wishy-washy with a side of princess complex, that is the main character in a nut shell. I think the Narrator is good, her talent is wasted on this book.
I just could not get into this story. Like so many other mysteries, the main character seemed based on Sherlock. I did like the "butterfly effect" aspect of this book. The character's were not well developed but the story line was ok.
Funny and thought provoking is how I found this book. I was listening to it in public and had to stop, I was getting strange looks because I was laughing out loud. There was also some philosophy that I found interesting, it was there without being preachy. This is the second of A. Lee Martinez's books I have read, I will be listening to more. Very entertaining.
I enjoyed this book. I have enjoyed every book in the series. Usually by book 12, I have gotten tired of the story lines. Not so with this series, I love the alternate earth and world that Kim Harrison has created. This one is maybe not as strong as some of her other books but I still have a vested interest in the characters and their lives.
This book is the third in the series and focuses on a different character than the first two books. I like how the author changes his writing to reflect a more serious main character. I also liked how the main character is insightful and seemingly wise. I think this author is great. Just finished this book today and already have downloaded the next.
Second book in the series and it just keeps getting better. Action and humor. The author keeps developing the characters and we get to see why the main character has become the man he is today by the relationship he has with his father. I really enjoy this series and will finish the whole series back to back.
Another story of good verses evil. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It really spoke to my inner geek. Guns, monsters and kicking ass. What more could one want? I was so engrossed with this series, I even dreamed about it. For me that means a very engaging story.
This book was ok. It is supposed to be a historical romance. Some of the phrases used by the characters were too modern. I know this is nitpicking but it still caught my attention. Formulaic and ordinary. An ok story, really nothing very special about it.
Syfy funny. Great combo. This is the first book I have done by this author. But it won't be my last. Laugh out loud funny.
So this is a gay romance novel. This is the first time I have listened to one. The sex scenes were great, the plot not so much. I guess I was expecting some kind of end point to the book, it seems the authors are setting up for a series but really didn't care about ending this book. Saying that, one of the characters is having a hard time with whole religion/ gay thing. I think some of the issues he faces, are what a lot of gay people have had to face. I thought that maybe this would be a good book for someone who is struggling with the same issues.
