"Almost gave up"
I almost gave up on this story that I bought for a family car ride. The beginning was terrible, but in the end, it was a pretty good book. Especially for my spoiled rotten preteen who lives for food and has never missed a meal.
The jabs at incompetent leaders and corrupt church officials are brief and I didn't feel like she was pushing politics.
"Sounds fishy..."
I'm concerned that his theory that Jonah was dead inside of the fish is a pretty big stretch of the truth. It breaks several of the rules of interpretation including taking things out of context and not conforming to the overall theme of the Bible.
"Great book, but..."
Great book, but you'll think it should be over with 5-6 hours left. Listen to your instincts and save yourself some time. You're not missing anything important.
"Great book"
Cross Roads is a great book on its own, but if you try to compare it to The Shack, you will be disappointed.
"Not a kids book"
I picked this one from the teens section and was disappointed with all the swearing in it. Could have been a good book with out it.
"Worst book ever"
Reached the end of the book and was still waiting for some mystery to develop. Needless to say, it never did.
"Bored"
I hate rating a book that I haven't finished, but this book just couldn't keep my attention and I've given up on it.
"Where's the ending?"
Why do I keep buying these books that have no ending?
"Stupid sound effects"
A couple of sound effects sprinkled through a book I can tolerate, but this book had constant sound effects and was really annoying.
I also thought it was weird that George Lucas wasn't the author, but then it said in the intro that it was a novel based on his screen play. I was hoping for a more indepth story with more details and not just a retelling of what I had already watched on the big screen.
The reader's voice did a barely tolerable job at mimicking Yoda's distinct voice. Also, the author didn't capture Yoda's famous reverse sentences. With this book, not impressed, I am.
