The bible comes alive when you can take all of the different religions out of it and really look at the books. This is a great listen, be prepared to learn.
I've listened to it several times. It's life changing.
When BJ finally takes time for herself.
BJ was the most memorable character because she is todays grandparent.
I love to watch old black and white movies. In the movies you have children they become successful. Then they have children and they all come to the grandparent’s house for the holidays. Terry’s book is keeping it real. Life doesn’t follow a happiness blue print plan. Women devote so much of their lives taking care of others that we don’t have the time or energy to stop and take care of ourselves. We rear our children and then our children have children. But they don’t come home for the holidays, they come back to live with you. If they leave home and stay gone they drain you financially and/ or emotionally. Terry’s book saved my life. I’m a spiritual person. I reared my children and one granddaughter. I financially help out my children and grandchildren. I worked at my job for almost 20 years. I got a new boss who was a bully and fired me for being old. I didn’t feel old. Time has been good to me, but the face looking back at me showed the struggles of life. I’m 60 years old and one paycheck away from poverty. I’ve used my retirement to help my children. I prayed and asked God for help. I was looking through my library on Audible. Then I saw Terry McMillan’s new book, “Who Asked You?” The character BJ, reminded me of myself. She showed me that, even at my age there is hope. The narrators were excellent. Many thanks go out to Phylicia Rashad whose voice calmed my anxiety. Thank you, Terry for writing a book for today’s trials and tribulations. It was the answer to my prayer.
The book starts out a bit slow but once you figure out the main characters they come to life.
Greed is powerful. If you think todays headlines are scandolus you have a treat in store. For individuals who sit in church every Sunday thinking about how boring it is, step behind the scene and witness, lies, sex, murder and hypocrisy at it’s best. I found myself staying up late just to hear the next segment. At the end of the tape I wanted more. I was elated to find the author has another book out. Keep it coming.
Tyler Perry is brillant; he anwsers questions many of us think about but are to embarrassed to ask. Don't let the title mislead you this book pertains to all people Black, White or Brown. Because everyone has a Madea in their family. She's "Sofia" in the Golden Girls, Judge Judy. She's the backbone of your family. She's the person who's going to tell it like it is. You will not be bored. Keep bringing it Tyler.
The author will teach you how to take control of your finances. A lot of what we think about finances is wrong. He will teach you how to pay yourself, pay your bills and get out of debt. I would have never thought to pay off my smallest accounts first but that's the way to go. If you want to buy a home he'll teach you how to find a good broker and you don't have to have a perfect FICO score. It all here.
This is school without having to get dressed and attend. The Professor teaches that there is one God whether we choose to call him Yahweh, Jehovah or Allah they are all the Great I am. The Jews were first, then the Christians and Muslims. Three groups of people fighting and praying to the same God.
I was curious to hear how anyone could make a case against God. The book strengthens my belief in God. I didn’t crawl and evolve from a sea creature. To tell you the truth I wasn’t able to make it though the book. It’s so ridiculous. I respect anyone’s right not to believe in God but there’s a difference in not believing and thinking there is no God. If God is a figment of my imagination then, I’m on one heck of a good trip.
With this book your're able to attend a seminar that probably cost $400. to attend and have it your way. I could stop, rewind and fast foreward. No doubt Tracy is amongst the best of the motivational speakers. He explains that no matter what field of work we're in we are all sellers. He'll teach you how to bring out the best in what ever you do.
The book is worth listening to but, it's everthing you need to know you learned in kindergarten. Basically, treat everyone the way you want to be treated and good things will happen to you.
I'll buy Buckinghams books just to hear his voice but, in this book the he finally tells us how to intergrate all of his previous books. The other books were good but this one brings it all together.
