  • Moon Over Manifest

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Clare Vanderpool
    • Narrated By Jenna Lamia, Cassandra Campbell, Kirby Heyborne
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Abilene Tucker feels abandoned. Her father has put her on a train, sending her off to live with an old friend for the summer while he works a railroad job. Armed only with a few possessions and her list of universals, Abilene jumps off the train in Manifest, Kansas, aiming to learn about the boy her father once was. Having heard stories about Manifest, Abilene is disappointed to find that it's just a dried-up, worn-out old town. But her disappointment quickly turns to excitement when she discovers a hidden cigar box full of mementos.

Rae says: "AWESOME book! LOVED it!"
What disappointed you about Moon Over Manifest?

It was geared toward a young audience than I had been expecting though that is mostly on me for not looking into the book further

What was most disappointing about Clare Vanderpool’s story?

The story was more for a younger audience, fair to middling for an older audience. This may be very good for a young audience.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?

I cannot really say who would have bee better at this as I don't really know the different narrators that would have been available.

What character would you cut from Moon Over Manifest?

I don't know that there was a certain character that needed to be cut from the story as this was really not the problem that i saw with the book

  • His Excellency: George Washington

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 13 mins)
    • By Joseph J. Ellis
    • Narrated By Nelson Runger

Acclaimed author Joseph J. Ellis penned the National Book Award-winning American Sphinx and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Founding Brothers, a fixture on The New York Times best seller list for an entire year, and one of the most popular history books of all time. Now this master historian turns his attention to the most exalted American hero, Founding Father and first President George Washington.

    Gerard says: "Distracted By Narrator"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

if it moved a little faster and was more adventurous and the pace was faster

Would you ever listen to anything by Joseph J. Ellis again?

I would and have in the past and have enjoyed his writing in some of his previous books.

Would you be willing to try another one of Nelson Runger’s performances?

Runger is often very good though some of his characterizations are stereotypical and the same characterizations repeatedly appear

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Some boredom unfortunately .
