Maurice Seton was a famous mystery writer - but no murder from his imagination could equal the ghastliness of his own death. When his grotesquely mutilated corpse is found in a drifting dinghy, ripples of horror spread among his bizarre neighbors: the cruel and cynical drama critic, the celebrated recluse, and the rakish young heir. It is up to Superintendent Adam Dalgliesh and his extraordinary aunt to discover the shocking truth about Seton's past - before the plot takes another murderous turn.

ok, well this was a big waste of money. horrible, simply horrible...i couldn't get past the first 2 hrs...i tried i really did...but the narrator was so bad and the storyline jumped around so much i didn't know what was going on. i had just listened to a book by P.D. James so couldn't wait to dive into this one. i'm back here now to download another book, i just can't finish this one.

It is the week before Christmas. A tanking economy has prompted Dr. Kay Scarpetta - despite her busy schedule and her continuing work as the senior forensic analyst for CNN - to offer her services pro bono to New York City's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. In no time at all, her increased visibility seems to precipitate a string of unexpected and unsettling events.

    Overall

I read the negative reviews, and I agree at some times there was too much description...but I believe that all that is important as it sets up the next book/chapter in the Scarpetta players lives. I couldn't stop listening. I liked the way it jumped back and forth, it's like I was watching this great movie in my mind. and the narrator, Kate Reading, one word awesome! I honestly believed she was Kay and Lucy--it's just what I thought they would sound like. BTW this was the first time I have "listened" to a Scarpetta novel...I loved it and I loved the plot, etc.

In the half-built skeleton of a monstrously vulgar mansion in one of L.A.'s toniest neighborhoods, a watchman stumbles on the bodies of a young couple - murdered in flagrante and left in a gruesome postmortem embrace. Though he's cracked some of the city's worst slayings, veteran homicide cop Milo Sturgis is still shocked at the grisly sight: a twisted crime that only Milo's killer instincts - and psychologist Alex Delaware's keen insights - can hope to solve.

    P. Giorgio says: "Good book... but"
"oh, it is over...sorry i fell asleep"
    Overall

I kinda liked this, but I think the real problem was the narrator. You barely heard Alex at all, it was mostly the Milo show, but some parts just got to slow and boring... I was actually glad when it was over.

I really liked the story, but then it's like he lost his train of thought and just ended the story...was really let down and not Grippando's style.

When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops - the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth.

Fans of John Grisham's legal thrillers will love the suspenseful action and intriguing courtroom drama of James Grippando's bestsellers. In The Pardon, Grippando delivers a scorching tale of vengeance that stains the sultry streets of southern Florida. Miami defense attorney Jack Swytek has long rebelled against his father, Harry, now Florida's governor. The two disagree on nearly everything, especially the death penalty.
