At 31, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At 29, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    I can't imagine.

Would you ever listen to anything by Nicholas Sparks again?

    No

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Nothing. The writing was so poor.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    boredom.

    Any additional comments?

I like a well-written romance novel, but this one was tedious. I listened to the end, but wouldn't have continued reading it in text format.

For Will Innis and his daughter, Devlin, the loss was catastrophic. Every day for the past five years, they wonder where she is, if she is - Will's wife, Devlin's mother - because Rachael Innis vanished one night during an electrical storm on a lonely desert highway, and suspected of her death, Will took his daughter and fled. Now, Will and Devlin live under different names in another town, having carved out a new life for themselves as they struggle to maintain some semblance of a family.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Rewrite the second part of the book that took place in the lodge in Alaska.

What was most disappointing about Blake Crouch’s story?

Its totally unbelievable premise of where the missing women were being taken, especially the ways they were treated SPOILER ALERT used as breeders as well as sex slaves. Their worth as bed fellows is not consistent with having multiple children to be sold. Silly

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Liked the relationship between the father and daughter although repeatedly taking her into very dangerous situations could be classified as child abuse.
