This is one of my favorite reads and i enjoyed listening to it all the way till almost the end. The author used a very high squeaky voice for one of the characters in the book and it sounded awful! It has the effect of scratching nails on a chalkboard and makes the end of the book almost intolerable.

If i read correctly, the book is narrated by the Author - and i think she is far better suited for writing than reading. The other voices sound well, but the narrator sound flat and monotonous. Still not a bad listen.

The native people of the Copper Isles, the raka, know that the ancient prophecy handed down by their trickster god is on the brink of coming to pass. But what they don't know is that all their hopes rest on the slender shoulders of Aly Homewood, formerly Alianne of Pirate's Swoop.

Nicole says: "Great story, Shoddy narration"

I think this book is very well written and read. I gave it only 4 stars because I don't enjoy reading sexual content. While this book isn't as explicit as others, there definitely is sex in this book.

Captivated and disconcerted by what she finds, and introduced to the joys of "Gothic novels" by her new friend, Isabella, Catherine longs for mystery and romance. I am a manly man. I eat raw meat. I speak in short sentences. but i love this book. It's not just a Jane Austen romance, it's a mini thriller and comedy too. John Thorpe is my idle.
