"Vampires in Chicago! You'd think headlines like that would have provoked the fine citizens of the Windy City to take up arms against us bloodsucking fiends. Instead, 10 months later, we're enjoying a celebrity status reserved for the Hollywood elite - fending off paparazzi only slightly less dangerous than cross- and stake-wielding slayers. Don't get me wrong. Joe Public isn't exactly thrilled to be living side-by-side with the undead, but at least they haven't stormed the castle...yet."

"Loved the Book, Loved the Narrator!"
    Overall

Loved the previous book, and couldn't stop listening to this book or the third book in the series. Narrator did a great job.

  • Midnight's Daughter: Dorina Basarab, Dhampir, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 41 mins)

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir - half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing. Now Dory's vampire father has come back into her life. Her uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison.

    Leanna says: "Too much bravado"
    "Love the Book, Narrator Awful!"
    Overall

The three stars is because the narrator is so bad, audible should have to seperate ratings for the book and the narrator. They should have stuck with Cynthia Halloway from the Cassie Palmer series. This narrator was awful, I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes of listening to her. She sounds like a 50 year old smoker, and the men sound like someone talking baby talk in a deep voice. I suggest reading the book on this one.

Merit, Chicago's newest vampire, is learning how to play well with others. Other supernaturals, that is. Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene - and to spy for the vamps while she's at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan's offering some steamy one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.

"Loved the Book, Loved the Narrator!"
    Overall

I liked both the previous books in this series, but this one is the best one so far (stayed up all night listening to it). I can't wait for the 4th book to release May 3rd, 2011.

They killed me. They healed me. They changed me. Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was mine. I was doing fine until Chicago's vampires announced their existence to the world---and then a rogue vampire attacked me. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker...and this one decided that the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

    "Great Book and Great Narrator!"
    Overall

I wasn't sure I would like this series, but I liked the narrator and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed, and I downloaded the following two books (I listend to all 3 withing 4 days). The only bad part is the 4th book doesn't come out until May 3rd, 2011.
