The set-up of Mark Haddon's brilliant new novel is simple: Richard, a wealthy doctor, invites his estranged sister Angela and her family to join his for a week at a vacation home in the English countryside. Richard has just re-married and inherited a willful stepdaughter in the process; Angela has a feckless husband and three children who sometimes seem alien to her. The stage is set for seven days of resentment and guilt, a staple of family gatherings the world over.

Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

so-so book-- after the first 2 volumes, which were performed in a way that enhanced the story, this is a less enticing follow up. 2 narrators- no. story also seems contrived.

Would you be willing to try another book from Veronica Roth? Why or why not?

    maybe

Would you listen to another book narrated by Emma Galvin and Aaron Stanford ?

emma- yes; aaron, maybedid not work to have 2 narrators!!!

Do you think Allegiant needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    NO. let it be

    Any additional comments?

I looked forward to this novel and was underwhelmed. almost gave it 2 stars rather than 3

What did you love best about The Bride Wore Size 12?

The writing style combined with the fabulous narration created a book that engaged me so much I missed the closing of CVS store I was shopping in!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Heather- real, funny, quirky and with a killer sense of humor

What about Sandy Rustin’s performance did you like?

Not only does she provide narration bringing the characters to life, she also has perfect timing on some very funny lines- that might not be so funny if delivered differently

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The whole book

    Any additional comments?

This is my first Meg Cabot book- I'm not a Princess Diary fan (way to tween for me) and was delighted to find Meg Cabot to be skilled in the grownup novel world. Thanks Meg!!!
