An earthquake in Masada, Israel, kills hundreds and reveals a tomb buried in the heart of the mountain. A trio of investigators - Sergeant Jordan Stone, a military forensic expert; Father Rhun Korza, a Vatican priest; and Dr. Erin Granger, a brilliant but disillusioned archaeologist - are sent to explore the macabre discovery, a subterranean temple holding the crucified body of a mummified girl. But a brutal attack at the site sets the three on the run, thrusting them into a race to recover what was once preserved in the tomb's sarcophagus: a book rumored to have been written by Christ's own hand....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I have enjoyed books from this author before. I looked forward to another good series. While the story was good, the narrator's bizarre inflections in the oddest places was so annoying. Then it got to be a real distraction as you listened anticipating some weird vocal and missed the actual story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Christian Baskous’s performances?

    Definitely not

Do you think The Blood Gospel needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I hope so, as it had an open ending for another book. But NOT with Baskous as narrator.

Sidney Archer has the world. A husband she loves. A job at which she excels, and a cherished young daughter. Then, as a plane plummets into the Virginia countryside, everything changes. And suddenly there is no one whom Sidney Archer can trust.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

yes, with the caveat that they know it isn't a new book and the narrator was not very good

Would you be willing to try another book from David Baldacci? Why or why not?

    Yes, i love his books

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Hard to specify, but he has the habit of reading each sentence as a separate sentence, instead of placing it in the context of the story. Hard to explain, but very apparent when you listen to it. I will be making sure he doesn't narrate anything else I buy...very, very annoying.

Was Total Control worth the listening time?

yes, only to get to the end of the story though
