Little Emily Steiner left a church meeting late one afternoon and strolled toward home along a lakeside path; a week later, her nude body was discovered, bound in blaze-orange duct tape. Called by the North Carolina authorities, forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta recognizes similarities to the gruesome work of a serial killer who has long eluded the FBI.

My latest in this series is just as much fun as the first and all in-between. Royals, sassiness, murder, and just plain fun! If you've not read or listened to any of them, you REALLY don't know what you are missing! It's light and fun and you're gonna love the characters as much as the story!

Molly Murphy always knew she'd end up in trouble, just as her mother predicted. So, when she commits murder in self-defense, she flees her cherished Ireland, under cover of a false identity, for the anonymous shores of late 19th-century America. When she arrives in New York and sees the welcoming promise of freedom in the Statue of Liberty, Molly begins to breathe easier. But when a man is murdered on Ellis Island, a man Molly was seen arguing with, she becomes a prime suspect in the crime.

Murphy's Law is a perfect title as anything that can go amiss for Molly Murphy, does to this listener's enjoyment as I awaited her escapes and new predicaments as she bewitches a young police captain (second generation Irish lad...of course) and solves the crime. As I like a feisty, bright, inquiring heroine involved in murder mysteries, this was a good fit.

Nicola Barber's narration also worked for me as she brought all the characters to life.

What's also grand is the fact that there are several books in the series being brought to Audible.com at the same time so I don't have to wait what always seems to be an "eternity" for the next in the series to come out! Now all I need to do is make sure I stuff some other good novels in-between so I don't quickly get to the end of the series only to be faced with the "eternity" problem!

If you've not enjoyed her Royal Spyness Mystery series, you could (and should) get stuck into this other series of hers! If you, like I, have, you will find find equal pleasure in the Molly Murphy series if this is any example!

Now I am waiting anxiously for the next book in this series and the one after that! This may be for written for teenagers but this little old lady and her hubby are real fans of Gail Carringer! There is lots of wit and fun in her writing with a narrator who only adds zest to her words! My only problem is I don't want to shut it off to sleep!

In this new series, a proper English mother is at her wits end dealing with her 14 year old daughter who is just not following the rules society deems correct women of the time. At a friend's suggestion, she sends said daughter off to a 'finishing' school...immediately! But things get scary and strange on the trip to the school. When she gets to school, it is nothing like any 'finishing' school she has ever heard about!

I recommend you fix a cup of something warm, find a comfy chair, and settle in for a fun listen. You might want to close the door from others so you don't have to explain to them why you have a silly smile on your face or emitting an occasional giggle!

After going back in time to find out how Emerson and Peabody met, I felt the need to find out if the next book in the series would introduce their son.

It did and what a delightful introduction it was! But while I loved the introduction, I was quite ready to return to Egypt and another mystery. A good one it is as the couple returns to open a tomb started by another who's death was mysterious...was it of natural causes or were the gods involved. The widow wants Emerson to carry on what her husband started. To do so requires him to leave his young family which he does not want to do...but he is so BORED in England. Peabody, who reads her husband well, and loves Egypt as much as he, makes sure they return to Egypt, a tomb, a great bunch of colorful characters, and a delightful mystery.

I finally have gone back in time to find out how my favorite couple met; not only their's but that of Peabody's brother-in-law! And all this is wrapped around in a lovely mystery.

For those of us who jumped into the series much later in time, it was much fun to find out about Peabody's beginnings and her subsequent meeting and love story with Emerson and Egypt. The mystery is very enjoyable (as usual).

Great story to just sit back and enjoy with a cup of tea or to help you get through the mundane chores as you get wrapped up in a good mystery set in the time of WWII. The most well known characters of the time seem to spring into life as our girl sets about protecting the Princesses and solving mysteries.

The ONLY reason this does not get a 5 star rating is because of the performance. Susan Duerden's pattern of going up on so many lines caused me great audio annoyance all the way to the end. If you can adjust to that, you are end for a 5 star ride! (Even if you can't, you will have to listen, it's that good.)

1576 is the year. Historical fiction is the genre. We are not in England, we are in Iran! The terrain may be different but how different is the roll of royal women, of politics, of danger to life, and court intrigue? That was what I discovered while listening to the Audible.com version.

O, it's through the eyes of a eunuch. I knew nothing more than the obvious about eunuchs so this very enlighting.

I would recommend this book to those who love historical fiction; are familiar with the European timeline but not in another part of the world. It may be a bit harder a read or listen because it is so unfamiliar but at the end, well worth the time and effort.

I started listening to this series of books after watching the first few episodes on HBO. While I have continued to watch the show, I have more anxiously awaited each new book as I liked how the different characters came and went or developed into main characters. I have to say, I love the book version so much better than the tv series which deviated so far from the books.

I have had 2 listening marathons and with this, the last in the series, I see another one in my future. I'm glad everything was wrapped up and tied together; maybe not a "happily ever after" for everyone but then life's like that. I'll miss Sookie but she's alway there if I need another marathon of listening pleasure!
