"meh..."
I loved the first two books in this series, however this one dosent measure up. Characters are two dimensional and what was sharp cynical wit in the first two books, comes off as belligerent ranting in this book.
The narration and performance is very good making this disappointment more tolerable.
"Fun and informitive"
Amy Stewarts writing style of mixing history, chemistry and trivia makes this book a rare gem that both entertains and educates.
The history of angastora bitters.
She has a silky voice that is a pleasure to listen to as well as her tongue twisting annunciations of the the plants scientific names without a stumble.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, there was a few giggles to some of the light hearted trivia.
If you enjoy science and history you you'll enjoy this book.
"Interesting as well as exciting"
I don't usually listen to biographies but Mitnik was worth the exception. This was well crafted and insightful as well as humorous.
That Mitnik came across as a basically good guy with some exceptional skills and a wicked sense of humor.
a sense of timing that added to the irony and humor.
yes
"good, but not his best"
Stress has an excellent turn of Phrase and an excellent sense of snark. I enjoyed this tho He really gets up to speed with The Fuller Memorandum and The Apocolypse Codex.
"Rollercoaster of excitement"
The story picks you up and carries you along, I found myself cheering and cringing at the fight scenes. The plot has the perfect blend detail and timing, the narration is excellent, the reader is fully immersed in his characters.
"fantasy written as hard science fiction"
Stross finally hits his stride in this story. This is not a Dresden files wannabe. Steeped in occult history, philosophy and technology this is not a god botherer friendly book, if your faith is so fragile that reading a story where god doesn't exist, and what we think are gods are actually extra dimensional aliens upsets you, do yourself a favor and go read the left behind series instead. The interlacing of tech, history and occult is done very creatively, the narrator does a great job with accents and his tone and timing is top notch.
"classic"
This is one of my favorite all time stories, performed by a great narrator. Well worth the credit.
"who knew taxidermy and vaginas could be so fun"
Offbeat and funny in a twisted neurotic way, think of a feminist David Sedaris with more taxidermy and your halfway there.
"A great story for kids and adults"
Having seen the animated film I picked up this book and wasn't disappointed by how rich the character and story are. From cringing at twilights battle songs to cheering on sorens band battling the evil pure ones this book is well worth the ride.
"Fun, clever and original"
This is a rare gem, an original concept with a sense of humor and well developed characters, while avoiding the standard tropes. I will never look at Whistlers mother without snickering.
"An Enjoyable Romp"
An exciting story combined with a great narrative performance creates a rollicking tale. Weber uses his talent for detailing battles to good effect.
