Chocked full of engaging characters and well turned phrases, well worth a listen.
Well written and narrated, a fun story, great characters with depth with a roller coaster plot. not the standard urban fantasy.
The narration is good but the story is crap. in place of action you are treated to a filler of ponderously stupid second guessing, inane bickering, tedious internal dialog, cheesy repetitive phrases like " his chocolaty brown eyes" and pointless combat between protagonists. The first book was interesting, but this story is composed of lawn trimmings and left overs.
great story with fantastic narration, interesting perspectives. familiar and unique. not your average talking animal story.
Amy Stewarts writing style of mixing history, chemistry and trivia makes this book a rare gem that both entertains and educates.
The history of angastora bitters.
She has a silky voice that is a pleasure to listen to as well as her tongue twisting annunciations of the the plants scientific names without a stumble.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, there was a few giggles to some of the light hearted trivia.
If you enjoy science and history you you'll enjoy this book.
I don't usually listen to biographies but Mitnik was worth the exception. This was well crafted and insightful as well as humorous.
That Mitnik came across as a basically good guy with some exceptional skills and a wicked sense of humor.
a sense of timing that added to the irony and humor.
Stress has an excellent turn of Phrase and an excellent sense of snark. I enjoyed this tho He really gets up to speed with The Fuller Memorandum and The Apocolypse Codex.
The story picks you up and carries you along, I found myself cheering and cringing at the fight scenes. The plot has the perfect blend detail and timing, the narration is excellent, the reader is fully immersed in his characters.
Stross finally hits his stride in this story. This is not a Dresden files wannabe. Steeped in occult history, philosophy and technology this is not a god botherer friendly book, if your faith is so fragile that reading a story where god doesn't exist, and what we think are gods are actually extra dimensional aliens upsets you, do yourself a favor and go read the left behind series instead. The interlacing of tech, history and occult is done very creatively, the narrator does a great job with accents and his tone and timing is top notch.
This is one of my favorite all time stories, performed by a great narrator. Well worth the credit.
Offbeat and funny in a twisted neurotic way, think of a feminist David Sedaris with more taxidermy and your halfway there.
