"Nine hours of pointless acrobatics"
Listening to this audiobook for me, was like spending nine hours listening to Caroline Myss recall a long wet dream she once had about how clever and insightful she had become about every aspect of the human condition. I say this because what Caroline says is painfully simple, but I found myself being asked to travel through my chakras and talk to my archetypes before I could realise that I have the power of choice in my life. Oh my god! It says volumes to me that it was recorded in front of a studio audience. Ego plays a large part in this work, just as the overly complicated concepts seek to convince us Caroline has discovered something liberating. Let me save you the money and the time - she has not. Well not as far I could tell. Of course I may have to spend some time consulting my inner child and saboteur before being sure of this, but having a seventh chakra which is open to spiritual energy my sixth chakra is telling you.... this is drivel. Caroline seeks to ground the books relevance to the average reader in chapters on using the principles of energy anatomy to address financial, relationship and career issues and choices. She regales us with wit(less) tales of how a friend was in a relationship with her husband because of money, and thought her life had hit the skids when he died and she had to sell the house. But no!! This was a spiritual gift because her friend used her quilting skills to teach others how to quilt and in doing so met new people she never would have met while in the marriage, and used a hobby to generate income. Well who would have thought! A death makes someones life radically change and forces them to be resourceful. Blow me down with a feather. Caroline wants me to believe this occurred because the archetype of the prostitute had dominated her friends life, until the death made way for spiritual energy to talk to her and move her forward. If you think this is not arbitrary, buy this audiobook. Sigh....
