Drawing on the period when, as Karol Wojtyla, he became a bishop in 1958 through his appointment as the first Polish Pope in 1978, Pope John Paul II fills Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way with both recollections of his own life and his thoughts on issues facing the world now.

Well read and even better written, The Holy Father takes the reader (listener) through a tour of his own life as a Bishop. In doing this John Paul II offers us a reflection on what he believes today's Bishops are called to be. An interesting read filled with the Holy Father's own humanness, I would recommend this to anyone who would like to see the human side of the Holy Father and develop a new view of the hierarchy of the Church.

World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization, the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra.

I had finally heard enough about the Da Vinci code that I decided that last month I would use my credits to buy it and ANgels and Demons. Boy was that a mistake. Between the gross factual errors about conclave (almost nothing he says about tradition and procedure is correct) and the irritating scientific errors, I was irritated the entire way through. The story itself left me dissapointed as there was so much potential in the topic, but such a poor follow through. All in all I would not waste my time or money on Dan Brown again.

This is a rare and powerful in-depth interview of a renowned theologian and high-ranking Vatican official issues of critical importance for the Church and Christianity at the end of an age.

For those who are fearful of Benedict XVI's stance towards Christian unity they need only listen to 5 minutes of this book when he is quoted as saying "there are as many paths to God as there are men." Men of course using the traditional meaning all of humankind, not the gender. This book is like an introduction to our new Pope. Covering many aspects of his life, I am impressed in general with the book.
