    Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

    Would you consider the audio edition of The Gunslinger to be better than the print version?

    I enjoy the audio versions better. Especially with George Guidall. Excellent interpretation of each and every character. Voice dynamics, inflections, accents, etc. Close your eyes and you are there,


    What other book might you compare The Gunslinger to and why?

    Stephen Kings books are one way or another wrapped into each other. . .


    Which character – as performed by George Guidall – was your favorite?

    Very hard to chose, but ultimately The Gunslinger. He has the voice right on for what I visualize as Roland and brings him to life.


    If you could take any character from The Gunslinger out to dinner, who would it be and why?

    The Gunslinger himself, Roland Deschain.

    "Suppose that all worlds, all universes, met at a single nexus, a single pylon, a Tower. And within it, a stairway, perhaps rising to the Godhead itself. Would you dare climb to the top, gunslinger? Could it be that somewhere above all of endless reality, there exists a room?...

    "You dare not."

    And in the gunslinger's mind, those words echoed: You dare not."
