This book was so down to earth it was refreshing. It brought out how we Christians really feel, sometimes, without getting ugly or over intimate. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a read without supernatural or super-violent breakneck content. I think both author and performer did a great job.
This is an excellent story. The reason for my 4 star rating in the story category is that I don't like profanity. The story is sprinkled with it. At first I was reluctant to continue but the volume itself overrode my objections to some of the language that was used. Mind you this narrative is by no means vulgar or obscene. I recommend this volume as an excellent read.
This book is sadistic at best. A society has been created that has evolved into religious extremism. A gross interpretation of the biblical passage concerning Hagar's role to provide an heir for Abraham (along with a perverse literal description of the act itself) was what caused me to stop listening. It's no wonder that the heroin of the story wanted to escape. I hope she succeeded but frankly I did not want to take the journey to find out.
This was a very engaging read. At one point I became so affected by the scene that I wanted to give a critique of the character involved and rate the novel accordingly. I'm glad that I pressed on. I've read a few novels lately (audio books) that have taken the dressing off of Christian life so that we can see what's underneath and this was one. I highly recommend it.
This book is FUNNY! Sometimes you find the best treasures in books for kids. It lasted just long enough for me to do my wash in the apartment laundromat.
I must compliment the writing skills of this author, and the deliverance of the novel given by the narrator. However, throughout the book there is a casual attitude of promiscuity which I do not endorse or enjoy in recreation or entertainment. There are no overt sexual scenes, at least to the point where I stop reading the novel, it's just the matter-of-fact attitudes that I saw displayed in the personal relationships. But then, I am a prude. Others may really enjoy this book.
This teaching is very well orchestrated and delivered. It banishes some preconceived notions that I had about the attitudes in that period of time. Very well done.
This book, both narrative and story, is excellent. The author has handled a tragic situation with grace. She has gently peeled away pain, involuntary disgrace, and the accumulated covers that we sometimes protect ourselves with and poured in God's love. In one situation I expected a physical reconciliation but the author did not focus on the physical but rather the all encompassing Spirit of God's love that is able to repair any damage. This is well worth the credit or cash.
This was an excellent read! It tells the story of how we can love with everlasting results. I found it refreshing and sometimes spine tingling. This is one book which is off the beaten track.
This is a GREAT book. It is Christian fiction at the highest level! I'm not really fond of fantasy novels and I chose this book because of the good reviews, nevertheless, it deserves the 5 star rating. It is fast paced and full! I especially like the way the author handled situations in relationships which could have turned out to be compromising. I think teenagers as well as adults will enjoy this volume.
