Love to read and love audio-books, esp Sci-fi and fantasy, and zombies, of course. I believe the narrator can make or break the experience.

The outbreak tore the US in two. The East remains a safe haven. The West has become a ravaged wilderness, known by survivors as the Evacuated States. It is here that Henry Marco makes his living. Hired by grieving relatives, he tracks down the dead and delivers peace. Now Homeland Security wants Marco for a mission unlike any other: He must return to California, where the apocalypse began. Where a secret is hidden. And where his own tragic past waits to punish him again.

Would you try another book from V. M. Zito and/or Bernard Clark?

I wish I could give this book a good review, because if this author could have hid his hate of Republicans and conservatives, he has a good story here. I love zombie books and would have supported a follow up of this story, and perhaps anything else he/she has written, but I won't give him/her any more of my hard earned money. I was constantly insulted by this authors hate for me and my political beliefs. Too bad. Don't support this author. And I'm a bit sorry for Bernard Clark, having to read that hate.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Change the political parties to something fictional, would have hidden the authors hateful beliefs and he might have sold a few more books.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

My husband and I listened to this on our recent Thanksgiving weekend car trip. We are totally in love with Ray Porter as the reader, his talents are amazing! But a bonus is that this book was a great read. Kept us sucked into the story the whole time, and we couldn't wait to get back in the car to listen to some more.

What other book might you compare 14 to and why?

We were reminded of several sci-fi stories such as StarGate and many with time travel. There were elements of some television shows such as The Twilight Zone. Loved it!

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ray Porter is hands down our favorite narrator. He breaths life into every book we've listened to, including the entire Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Full of humor, so don't be afraid that this is a horror movie that will make you cringe.
There were some points where you might get anxious, but that helps build the suspense. Be assured, you'll laugh plenty while you listen to this book.

    Any additional comments?

Buy it, listen to it. You'll thank me! As an aside, my husband and I were trying to decide who would play these characters in the movie. We decided the entire cast from Firefly would do nicely if Joss Whedon would please direct!
