"If you loved "Where the Heart Is""
Newberry winners are always worth the read, even for adults, but this year's pick is especially adult fiction worthy. Clare Vanderpool reminded me of both Fannie Flagg and Billie Letts. Its a captivating story that weaves nostalgia, american history and family values with humor and mystery. It would make a great family vacation car ride listen even if you were alone in the car with Grandpa!
"A Fireside Tale for all Ages"
The tales of Redwall narrated by the author Brian Jacques with his thick brog and a full cast of voices are a ticket to the unique theater of the mind. Reminiscent of radio drama mixed with the delightful fantasy of a JRR Tolkien Hobbit tale and the satisfaction and pleasure we all felt the first time we watched The Princess Bride. These books are filled with swashbuckling mice, evil stoats and weasels, heros and champions, romance and families, all spun together by a master storyteller who paints pictures of the world of forrest creatures so vivid that I could smell the oatmeal scones with maple cream.
Delightful!
"Not Her Best Story But Who Cares?"
The characters Evanovich has created and the wonderful way they come to life in King's narration is pure joy. I am so hooked on this series and they never fail to entertain, lift my spirits and leave me hoping there will be a next one. Thanks to both of these creative women!
King is the reason these books come alive on Audible. It would be very hard to go back to silently reading about Lulu, Ranger and Morelli instead of welcoming them into my room.
