Little too much data and intepretation. More textbook than I would like. I like the series on 'reptile' and thought some of this might be related. It wasn't.

Make it more about the 'story' and the effects of 'redirecting.' I thought I would get more out of it.

No. I barely finished it. I bought it for insight. . .didn't get a lot. I wanted value for what I could use in day to day experiences.

Mixed reaction. It was clear that this last mission finished him. How it was used upon his return to the states. He was clearly disappointed in how it was played - after the fact.
I neither laughed nor cried.

I certainly applaud the 'telling' of this story. I know it took courage. Well worth it. Thank you.

About half way through, I started loosing interest. By 3/4ths, I had to struggle. May be the book? Might be my attention span?

Painful. Hard. Sad.

I am a child advocate and began my (volunteer) work with children of abuse/neglect in the early 1970s (and still do); a number of my cases involved children that were beaten to death and dealing with siblings that survived. The heartache and struggles that are carried from one generation to the next. Often detachment is the only way to survive.
This story is very real and I can see how such facilities could have been in many other states (and countries).
It is a wonder that Roger Dean Kiser was even able to relive and go through such brutality and was able to tell about it. It had to be tough just to reduce all of this pain to a book.
I am proud of him.

Good telling.

I couldn't take all the reality in one sitting. I had to space it out because of the vivid brutality. Even with my personal experience with children (now adults), it was hard. But, a story that needed to be told. There are more stories out there. But, this kind of story takes a lot of courage.

Thank you Roger Dean Kiser. You are a testiment to the survival and you may help other children.

The telling. The story. So much detail. Not a text book read at all. The personalities, strength and weaknesses of the American leaders. The reality of that War. This is one of my favorites. I love this book.

The way it was told. In the way the various players handled the obstacles. The politics of it that the was played out in the field and in Washington.

I so recommend this book to anyone interested in the 'real' role of the U S-which wasn't taught so much in school. Refreshing.

Somehow, the lists of things to do and look for seemed to give me an active, working direction.

Trying to digest the theory that forgiveness is really about setting yourself free for a more fulfilling life. That is a learned and practiced way for foregiveness to play out. Valuable.

Jane is quick, funny, spontateous-but her self discovery and life story needs something.? Not really sure what.

Not sure what I was missing. . .Jane has had a great life and career path and she made her opportunities. . .somehow, I got lost about half to 3/4 through it.
