Detective Alex Cross is a family man at heart--nothing matters more to him than his children, his grandmother, and his wife Bree. His love of his family is his anchor, and gives him the strength to confront evil in his work. One man knows this deeply, and uses Alex's strength as a weapon against him in the most unsettling and unexpected novel of James Patterson's career.

Would you consider the audio edition of Cross My Heart to be better than the print version?

    Haven't read the print.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cross My Heart?

The wonderful interlacing of two "sets" of villains.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, but the voices were terrible on some points.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Alex needed someone and she was there....

    Any additional comments?

I thought the book was good.  I was beginning to worry that the ending would be rushed and full of holes, then .....  What an interestingly frustrating, tantalizing, maddening concept for a story plot.  It took me minute or two to get past the shock, then i had to laugh and applaud the concept. Enjoy the book it is worth the investment.  The language is not so foul you cannot listen and the storyline is excellant.

Special Agent Pendergast arrives at an exclusive Colorado ski resort to rescue his protégée, Corrie Swanson, from serious trouble with the law. His sudden appearance coincides with the first attack of a murderous arsonist who - with brutal precision - begins burning down multimillion-dollar mansions with the families locked inside. After springing Corrie from jail, Pendergast learns she made a discovery while examining the bones of several miners who were killed 150 years earlier by a rogue grizzly bear.

What did you love best about White Fire?

The matching of Corrie Swanson and Pendergast's personalities. It was clear to see Pendergast cared

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Being able to sit back close your eyes and listen to him guide you through the book. It is easy to visualize in your mind.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Corrie Swanson asked why he helped her....

    Any additional comments?

I am glad to be past the Diogenes and Helen saga. It will be a treat to see how Pendergast, Corrie, Vincent & Laura can be melded into a series of adventures. I would love for there to see a movie come from this book.

Would you listen to Separation of Power again? Why?

Yes but only if i was going through the series preparing to listen to a new release. the narrator made it difficult.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voices were not distinct enough so the characters ran into one another and were confusing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No over three days

  • The Knowland Retribution: The Locator, Book 1

With tainted meat the weapon and corporate greed the motive, The Knowland Retribution is an extremely topical suspense-revenge thriller. Walter Sherman, AKA the Locator, is a tracker who honed his skills in Vietnam. The colorful cast of characters also includes Sherman's two friends--a bartender with a mysterious past and an old black man who smokes like a chimney; a feisty young woman who writes obituaries for the New York Times; a southern lawyer who has lost everything and has only one thing to live for; and more.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Knowland Retribution to be better than the print version?

I cannot wait to see if any more of these books are written. I am also disappointed the TV series was cancelled.
