"Exciting and fun"
What a great time!
A fast-paced, really interesting plot and a great narration. I listen on the way to work, and found myself circling the parking lot because I didn't want to stop listening!
It's got everything--the beautiful, spunky heroine, the ex-badboy cop, a small town with evil lurking around every corner. . .who could ask for more?
"DREADFUL"
I was really looking forward to this book--and was really disappointed! The narrator sounds like she's a non-English speaker reading phonectically. No emotion, no excitement. Sounds like she's reading a grocery list.
I still wanted to try to get through the story, but just couldn't get through the lackluster performance of that female narrator.
"Not That Kinda Angel"
This combines my love of a good vampire villain with my love of warrior angels. . .in such an interesting way. It's a really great story, packed with action, makes it really hard to stop listening because you don't want to miss a good part!
I could have done without all the heavy duty "hot" stuff, Hot stuff is okay if it's part of the story, but bending the plot so that there can be hot stuff gets tiresome. I want to know what happens next, not who happens naked.
The link between angels and vampires was really, really interesting, and it's what makes this book stand out from other stories.
The narrator is excellent. She creates characters by voice alone--you don't need "Mr X Said" to understand which character is speaking. Her inflections and intonations are just fabulous. I'll be looking for other books narrated by her, she's that good.
The ending. . . well. . . just okay. The story built up and concluded, then there's an epilogue-like addition. . .could have done without it!
But, it was a really fun story, I will be listening to the next book in the series!
"Mysterious Enigma"
I love a mystery. . .but in this story, it's mystery after mystery after mystery. Characters are continually being shocked by something the reader isn't told of. By the time you're halfway through the book, you really have NO idea what's going on and are starting not to care. Normally I listen as often as I can, finishing a 12 hour book in about week. This one? Not so much.
By the time the mystery is revealed, you've forgotten what was relevant and what wasn't.
"Really Good"
Great story!!
I read the reviews before purchasing, and they were right on the money. A solid story with GREAT narration. I do wish it had ended a bit cleaner, but I still enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in the series.
"Disappointing"
I was looking forward to this one. . .and what a disappointment! CJ Critt, a narrator I normally enjoy, is really off her game in this recording. Odd phrasing, extra long pauses--no wonder it comes in three parts--a good 2 hours of it is silence.
And the story--in a word--boring.
