On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

I was mesmerized within the first five minutes. Another great King novel with a complex cast. I didn't think anything could even come close to The Stand, but this one does! I hated to turn it off. I definitely fell in love with the characters, laughed, cried and waited with baited breath to see how it would end.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I love survival-type stories like these. I found this one as a "recommended reading for someone who liked One Second After." I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. It was really hard getting into all the lists! List for this, list for that...So many times I just wanted to fast forward through parts, but I was afraid I would miss something! There were a few things that actually took me by surprise, which is unusal for me!
