Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his team of investigators are called in to the scene of a suspicious death in a rural village south of Montreal. Jane Neal, a local fixture in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines just north of the U.S. border, has been found dead in the woods. The locals are certain it's nothing more than a tragic hunting accident, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods.

What a wonderful book. The depth of the characters, the setting south of Montreal, the spattering of Francophone language throughout the book, all lead to a mesmerizing story. I desperately need another dose of Chief Inspector Gammache and the other unique characters from this small town!

Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire mysteries are critically acclaimed. Longmire's third outing takes him from Wyoming to Philadelphia to investigate a brutal assault on his daughter, Cady. Walt believes her ex-boyfriend is behind the crime and searches him out. But when he turns up dead, Walt is back to square one.

    "Storytelling at its best."
    Overall

Storytelling at its best. Characters you would like to invite to your own home, old-world values including loyalty, friendship, family and a sense of humor embedded in frank honesty and brutal self-analysis. I've listened to the entire story twice! Thanks for the wonderful entertainment!!
