Thor, the Norse god of thunder, is worse than a blowhard and a bully - he’s ruined countless lives and killed scores of innocents. After centuries, Viking vampire Leif Helgarson is ready to get his vengeance, and he’s asked his friend Atticus O’Sullivan, the last of the Druids, to help take down this Norse nightmare. One survival strategy has worked for Atticus for more than two thousand years: stay away from the guy with the lightning bolts. But things are heating up in Atticus’s home base of Tempe, Arizona....

What made the experience of listening to Hammered the most enjoyable?

The way the myths of old are weaved into modern life. A great imagination is at work here.

What other book might you compare Hammered to and why?

Out of the blue, a visual from the story catches me off guard and I embarrass myself by laughing out loud in public.

The Stephanie Plum series makes me laugh like this.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He can pronounce correctly all the gods.
He brings to life the thought and voice of the dog. He has a wonderful delivery of the silliness and manages to change he voice enough to portray the various characters. His skill is impressive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course. This is why I listen instead of reading. I would get nothing done.

    Any additional comments?

I smile the whole time I listen to this series. Good stories, fun characters, and enough suspense to keep me anxious for the next adventure.

"My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep...."

Would you listen to The Wise Man's Fear again? Why?

I felt that the end was abridged. This series brought me many hours of great listening.

Maybe I am dense but I would have liked as much detail put into the ending as was evident in the telling of the story. It is like the author just got tired of his characters and ended the book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All the characters were developed beautifully.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Activity around the school was very clever.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

I wanted another book to follow completing the characters to their resolution.

This holiday season, join two of today’s most popular paranormal authors for a special look into their worlds, where creatures are always stirring and no one sleeps through the night. The Bite Before Christmas: Teddy Brunswick knows about the immortals among us. He’s worked with them, called them friend - but he never counted on being snowed in with one over Christmas. Home for the Holidays by Jeaniene Frost: Cat and Bones are looking forward to a normal holiday - at least as “normal” as it gets for the combustible vampire couple....

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the story written by Lynsay Sands was not part of this recording.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lynsay Sands and Jeaniene Frost again?

I enjoy the creativity of Ms. Frost. I would never listen to Sands again

How could the performance have been better?

    Better story by Sands

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Bite Before Christmas?

Sands wrote a sexual fantasy which was not what was indicated in the preview. The story was flat and had little to keep the interest of the reader. If it had been a book, I would have found few pages worth reading.
I would have cut her whole short story.

Jane Sagan: Soldier. Killer. Lover. Dreamer. In John Scalzi's best-selling Old Man's War series of science-fiction novels, we see this warrior woman as the other characters see her - silent and strong, from the outside. But now The Sagan Diary shows us Sagan from another point of view: her own, as she prepares to leave military life and join her new husband and adopted daughter on a colony world.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

There was no substance that I could find - just confusion and word play. I would rate this a Zero if it was an option. I have never read his work before and this work will make me avoid this author.

When Melanie Ross first meets April Hall, she's not sure what to think. What other sixth grade girl wears her blonde hair piled in a twist and flaunts false eyelashes? But when the two girls discover the storage shed outside the A-Z Antiques and Curio Shop, they discover they both love anything to do with ancient Egypt. Soon the friends create the Egypt Game.

This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not for very young. Upsetting subject matter. Children do not really need to read about a serial child killer.

Would you ever listen to anything by Zilpha Keatley Snyder again?

    Never

Did Alyssa Bresnahan do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

    Good narration

  • Skippy Dies

This touching and uproarious novel by author Paul Murray made everyone’s best fiction of 2010 lists, including The Washington Post, Financial Times, Village Voice, and others. Why Skippy dies and what happens next is the mystery that links the boys of Dublin’s Seabrook College (Ruprecht Van Doren, the overweight genius obsessed with string theory; Carl, the teenager drug dealer and borderline psychotic; Philip Kilfether, the basketball-playing midget) to their parents and teachers in ways that no one could have imagined.

What disappointed you about Skippy Dies?

I never got past the first 60 minutes. I could not care less about the characters or their plight. After paying for the book, I decided to keep going for an hour but was too bored to continue. This is only the second book I have downloaded in years that was not even worth listening to while sitting in traffic.

What three words best describe the narrators???s voice?

    good

A year had passed since Ben Holiday bought the Magic Kingdom from the wizard Meeks, who had set a series of pitfalls against him. Ben survived, by the aid of three loyal friends: Questor Thews, an ill-trained wizard; Abernathy, a talking dog, the Court Scribe; and the lovely Willow, who sometimes had to be a tree.

The story was entertaining. Kept me interested and engaged. I liked the writer and the reader as well.

For centuries, Lucian Daratrazanoff has been the dark guardian of his people, living a bleak existence of violence and horror. But now his kind, the Carpathians, are dying out or falling prey to the soulless life of vampires. Only by finding his destined life mate can Lucien stave off the ever present lure of the soulless evil. Part man, part predator, Lucian will stop at nothing in order to find his mate. Jaxon Montgomery is anything but ordinary. She is stubborn, independent, but a damn good cop.

    "Bad"
    Overall

This writer is repetitive. The whole thing amounted to a short story with the same words about sex repeated over and over. Boring.
