In the dark winter of 1917, as World War I was deadlocked, Britain knew that Europe could be saved only if the United States joined the war. But President Wilson remained unshakable in his neutrality. Then, with a single stroke, the tool to propel America into the war came into a quiet British office. One of countless messages intercepted by the crack team of British decoders, the Zimmermann telegram was a top-secret message from Berlin inviting Mexico to join Japan in an invasion of the United States.

Would you listen to The Zimmermann Telegram again? Why?

Maybe. I really liked the story and I'm trying to get my husband to read it. (He's the reader in the family.)

What did you like best about this story?

I could see this book play out in my mind, like a movie.

Have you listened to any of Wanda McCaddon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. I really liked her performance though.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    I'm not that creative... :)

    Any additional comments?

I would LOVE for Hollywood to make this book into a movie.

  • D-Day: The Battle for Normandy

From critically acclaimed world historian Antony Beevor, this is the first major account in more than 20 years to cover the whole invasion, from June 6, 1944, right up to the liberation of Paris on August 25. It is the first book to describe not only the experiences of the American, British, Canadian, and German soldiers, but also the terrible suffering of the French caught up in the fighting. More French civilians were killed by Allied bombing and shelling than British civilians were by the Luftwaffe.

    Story
What made the experience of listening to D-Day the most enjoyable?

The narrator put forth great efforts when reading direct quotes from others. He used the accents of where the quotes were coming from. The author wrote in a highly descriptive way that brought the reader directly to D-Day.

What does Cameron Stewart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really liked how he changed accents for the direct quotes.
