  • Full Tilt

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Janet Evanovich, Charlotte Hughes
    • Narrated By Lorelei King

A note from the author: With Full House, Charlotte Hughes and I teamed up to create an exciting new series. Now we bring you the second audiobook, Full Tilt, filled with even more fast-paced action, crazy characters, steamy sex, suspense, and nonstop hilarity. While these audios are not set in the world of Stephanie Plum, we're convinced they will bring you all the fun, wisecracks, and the adventure that we love.

    Janet says: "Fluff"
    "Characters not complex enough."

I was intrigued by the description, so I bought the book. I am sorry to say I found it disappointing. The book is definitely not thought provoking and the romance left me tepid, at best. At several points I contemplated just not finishing it. Primarily, I wish the character development would have been more complex.

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

Theresa says: "Best audio of the year for me"
"This book will knock your socks off!"

OK, it is true that this book starts slowly. Give yourself one hour to get fully hooked. I once tried to listen to this book before and put it down too quickly. The storytelling is charming, enchanting and endearing. It plays with the interface between fiction and reality and powerfully shows the strength of the human spirit. There is a HUGE twist at the very end that will cause you to immediately want to listen to the whole book again. This book is truly a masterpeice. It is, without a doubt, one of the finest books I have ever listened to. Enjoy.

  • The Dogs of Babel

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Carolyn Parkhurst
    • Narrated By Erik Singer

When his wife dies in a fall from a tree in their backyard, linguist Paul Iverson is wild with despair. He abandons his everyday life to embark on a series of experiments designed to teach his dog Lorelei to communicate. Is this the project of a madman? Or does Lorelei really have something to tell him about the last afternoon of a woman he only thought he knew?

Christopher says: "Back-story excellent, present story mediocre"
"Like a slow motion train wreck"

This book was a real "page turner". I honestly had trouble turning my audible player off. The narration was excellent; haunting and pensive, sad and gripping. Great storytelling. Definately recommended.
