What fire bolt from the galactic dark shattered the Earth eons ago, and now hides in that remote cleft in the southwest U.S. known as Tyrannosaur Canyon?

Peggy says: "A pleasure to listen to"
    "Action packed adventure"
    Overall

A well researched and entertaining read. Some scenes and situations are a bit impossible, but suspend the disbelief and go with it. I didn't find the narrator to be at all a problem, but then I can't stand Scott Brick and others seem to find him enchanting. Go figure.

From of the author of The Silk Code, winner of the 1999 Locus Award for Best First Novel, comes another intriguing blend of science fiction and hard-boiled police-procedural mystery.

    "Average read"

Seemed to be slightly derivitive of themes in Snow Crash. I'd recommend it as a much more interesting read. This book was ok, but took odd turns that didn't make sense.

  • Almost There: The Onward Journey of a Dublin Woman

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 43 mins)

    Story

Almost There begins at that moment when Nuala O'Faolain's life began to change. It tells the story of a life in subtle, radical, and unforeseen renewal. It is a tale of good fortune chasing out bad - of an accidental harvest of happiness. But it is also a provocative examination of one woman's experience of the "crucible of middle age."

Paula Beck says: "Honest & Endearing"
    "A bit self indulgent"
    Overall

This book has both good and bad. Perhaps I don't get it but it sounds fairly whiney and self indulgent at times as she complains about how her bad choices make her miserable.
I kept waiting for her to "get it", she's headed in the right direction. Perhaps the next book.

    Story

Thanks to Thomas Cahill, the pivotal era called the "dark ages" is brought back to vibrant life, its personages portrayed in all their seemingly contemporary humanity, its issues simply and compellingly spelled out. How the Irish Saved Civilization will change forever the way we look at our past, and ourselves.

    P says: "Fascinating book"
"Decline of Rome and subsequent Irish history"
    Overall

I found this to be extremely well written with an occasional condecending tone (not sure if it was implied by the reader or from the author, I'd have to listen to those sections again)when expressing a personal observation.
The reading was excellent and appropriate to the subject. It may not be the accustomed style, but worked well here.
