The very young men who flew the B24s over Germany in World War II against terrible odds were an exemplary band of brothers. In The Wild Blue, Stephen Ambrose recounts their extraordinary brand of heroism, skill, daring, and comradeship. Stephen Ambrose describes how the Army Air Forces recruited, trained, and chose those few who would undertake the most demanding and dangerous jobs in the war.

What did you love best about The Wild Blue?

The things I liked best about The Wild Blue was that it portrayed both the B-24 as well as McGovern in a way that I had never heard about. The narration was good and crisp and it made for a great story.

Falling like a stone from six miles up, a brand new C-500 crashes in central France, killing two pilots aboard. When French officials take over this highly public investigation, they call in the best there is: they call Frank "Jammer" Davis.

A retired U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, Davis is part of the NTSB's "go-team". With a reputation for getting things done - and for steamrolling anyone who gets in his way - Davis starts to dig.

Coming from Clancy, I was expecting something similar, but have to admit...different and a good story. A bit far-fetched in some places...especially as compared to characters in the Harry Bosch series by Connelly, but overall, great escape listening (reading?).

Story moved well and plot was great. Jammer is a great character and looking forward to investigating other titles in the series.

Upshot? Good escape and action. Get it for this. If you're looking for something deeper or darker like Connelly, this is not for you....

Four years ago, LAPD detective Harry Bosch was on a movie set, asking questions about the murder of a young production assistant, when an armored car arrived with $2 million cash for use in a heist scene. In a life-imitates-art firestorm, a gang of masked men converged on the delivery and robbed the armored car with guns blazing. The crime was never resolved, and the young woman's murder was in the stack of unsolved-case files Bosch carried home the night he left the LAPD.
